    But how is a fax forced upon an individual? You could just dispose of it without reading it. Such an argument could be applied to unwanted phone calls, people yelling on the street, etc. You answer the phone, you still are not required to listen or internalize what is being said.
    One could argue that one yelling on public property is similar; you can't deny the sender's raw data from reaching you, but you do not have to accept it as something which makes a message or type of communication.

    Not advocating spam, just playing devil's advocate.

    I might want to take a trip in a few years. I'm sure prices and such will fluctuate much by then, but hopefully a sweet spot remains a sweet spot...

    like it is the beginning of a graphical MOO.
    After a brief amount of time, people will dislike the rules, admins, players, code, or (insert any factor here), and split off to create a similar project.
    Whether or not they use the original code is irrelevant, as it will develop into its own code base, with its own array of players, which will grow to dislike the admins, players, code base, etc...
    It's a never ending cycle known well to the MUD/MOO/MUSH/etc world.
    I doubt ever seeing something as united as Stephenson's MetaVerse, unless it is introduced to the populace by M$... :-/

    I posted this earlier by accident as AC, although this doesn't make much difference since my posts score 0. Heh.

    Actually, in this time of solid-state storage and single-board/matchbox/thumbtack/whatever-sized web servers and the like, i'm suprised that no one has yet (publically) made a small box with a single ethernet interface and a battery (solar-panel?) for the sole purpose of data collection and the like.

    If you want to go that far, why not completely gut it, and place the guts within a custom case of some sort? Think of the possibilities, a PC case, spare room inside a television, a filing cabinet drawer... nearly endless possibilities.

    Such stereotyping, by the press and otherwise, leads one to wonder what the popular view of 'hacking' will be in, say, 10 years.
    Perhaps, somehow, it will become common knowledge that hacking is multi-faceted and more of a way of thought, opposed to the popular view of breaking things and "fucking shit up".
