No one need to 'switch' to Windows XP or Windows Vista for this trend to occur. All that has to happen is for Mac OS X / *nix rate among new users to be lower than their existing marker share. Given that Vista is preloaded on the bulk of entry level hardware this is in no way surprising.

If OSS had similar presence in the IT industry, even if it continued to look 'questionable' to some people, that would be a cause for celebration, no?

    1) Actually, according to consumer reports. The SUV I plan to buy is as safer as the sedan I drive :-)

    2) Hybrid :-)

    3) I tested my requirements and 2 adults, 2 children with safety seats and 2 pets in carriers all work. This is purely a question of the design of the vehicle. I am buying it for space so I obviously made a point of checking.br

As to the news, it seems that Croll mispoke a couple of times when asked about ZFS in Leopard. Despite direct questions about Sun CEO Schwartz's claims that ZFS is there, Croll flatly denied the reports to two of our reporters in a 1:1 interview.

An Apple spokesperson called us Tuesday seeking to clarify Croll's statement. Croll was apparently supposed to indicate that ZFS would be available as a limited option, but not as the default file system."

We are now writing a separate story to note Apple's mis-statement and hopefully to reveal more about how ZFS would work in Leopard.

No, actually, the very fact that these countries can reverse engineer everything is the reason why drug companies will sell -everything- they can to them. A legally sanctioned competing producer or distributor would be much worse than even a significant discount.

The issue is not only that the market in the country is impacted but also that other markers are impacted as consumers buy from the competitor. In this case, I fully expect that some people will go to Brazil for a week to 'stock up' on these drugs as that will be cheaper than buying at market value in other countries.

You seem to misunderstand that Linux is not an operating system, it is a kernel. The various 'distributions' are operating systems built upon the Linux kernel. In the vast majority of cases the distributions which target client solutions offer stable UI layers for any given version.

So you could, for example, create a solution for Ubuntu - currently the most popular client distribution - which includes a windowing system, widget libraries, desktop environment, documentation environment and everything else you may need.
