Seriously! How is an unarmed rolling video camera going to stop some idiot with a gun. Most of the time these gun toting phyco's are looking for fame to spread their "message" this will only make it worse.
The only solutions to guns are to 1.) keep the crazy's from getting guns 2.) Make sure trusted people with guns are there to stop them if step 1 fails. 3.) Make it hard for them to get at valuables (people or stuff) even if they have a gun through physical security. Anything else is just a waste of time and money IMHO.
I spend a lot of time driving across country and the worst places in my experience are the interstates in urban areas. Those areas tend to have artificially lower speed limits to deal with maximum traffic capacity for rush hour.
This is exactly why I wish we would just implement adjusting speed limits and enforce them.
I understand why Lake Shore Drive in Chicago's Speed Limit is 45mph during Rush hour, that makes total sense the road is a parking lot anyway; but why can't it be 60mph or even 65mph during the middle of the night or Sunday mornings when it's mostly empty. (You know outside of the S curve at Michigan Ave. that should stay at 25mph) Also, if we had speed limits that adjusted we could have to speeds change based on road conditions. That way we can make it illigal for that idiot in the BMW to go 55mph when the road is all ice and its barely safe to go 30mph.
I'm not trying to cause a flamewar or anything but can someone explain to me why it would be "OK" to accept a new Liver but not Blood from a donor? I just don't see how getting cell type A from donor 1 is any different than getting cell type B. You are still violating "God's Gift of life" by taking cells from another.
I also don't click on such attachments or Facebook posts. I have relatives sending me links to such Christmas or Birthday card sites and I choose not to click the link. Just a tad paranoid I guess
That doesn't sound paranoid to me. Most of my relatives don't even know how to shut down their laptops and just leave them in sleep till the battery dies and then wonder why the battery's are shot after a year. They are also way to trusting online, they might get a spam email saying "CHECK OUT R NEW CHRSTMS CARD APP!!!" and click on it and then use the malware site to send all there friends/family a "Christmas Card" which infects there computer an who ever opens it.
My general rule is, if it's from my Mom, Sisters, or cousin don't click on links. My Dad is fine though he's more security paranoid than I am. My Dad won't even attach his work laptop to his own home network any more because he doesn't trust my Mom or Sisters. LOL
Start Menu: "Hey man, I love you guys. You know what would be great if I was even bigger with more hidden menus!"
Balmer: "DUDE!!! THATS AWESOME!"
World: "Go home Start Menu! You're Drunk!"
Since they wrote there software and have all the source how hard do you think it would be for them to recompile it from x86 to ARM? If it was written in.NET it's a switch at the top of VisualStudio. The real issue is getting it signed by M$ so that it can run on the crippled OS that is WinRT. But since they are buying a ton of tablets from M$ I'm sure they will work that out.
They are M$ $urfaces running Windows RT. They are incapable of running anything that isn't signed by Microsoft and why would Microsoft sign any malware besides there products. Consiquently this is why I will never buy a computer running Windows RT.
Seriously, though while I hate the idea of Windows RT and it's locked boot loader and inability to run unsigned code it seems like this is the perfect use case for such a computer.
I know I'm responding to AC but this one I can't let stand.
The Socialism ideal is that everyone doesn't have equal opportunity because the economy is a zero-sum game and some people have a head start by being born into a good family and that through government/societal intervention we can make outcomes for everyone equally good by lowering the amazing outcomes of some (The people with a leg up in life and a few outliers) through tax and using that money to pay for social programs that help the people in society with the lowest outcomes achieve better outcomes regardless of opportunity bias. In this idea you are saying that if you are born to a lower income family no matter how hard you try you will never do as well as that white kid born to a millionaire because he had such a head start and without societal intervention there can be no equal opportunity. And since the economy is a zero-sum game there always has to be winners and losers, so we have to balance out the equation for fairness.
By saying that everyone has an equal Opportunity to rise to the top we are not saying that they can achieve that goal, as socialism does, but that you can try. And if you try really hard you should be able to rise to the top, but some may have to try harder than others and those who don't try will never achieve good outcomes. It is the antithesis of Socialist thought. The difference is equality of outcomes vs equality of opportunity for upward mobility.
I agree a pipeline would be more efficient in the long run if the supply keeps flowing. However, given how much the environmental moment hates, pipelines, fracking, and Oil in general they have created a dis-economy where Business people have to make the rational decision to use an inefficient solution because the red tape is less cumbersome. Now, if we had regulators that were not ideological against the industry they were trying to regulate or a product or regulatory capture by a few large players maybe we could get rid of the unnecessary red tape. Of course if pigs could fly I would probably have a flying car as well...
Right because a bunch of overweight middle aged office workers yelling, "OBamer is Ruining the country just like Rush Limbaugh told me he is!" are just as intimidating as a bunch of young guys with bats and clubs saying "Vote my way or else!"
I'm assuming you are referring to the Underwear bomber above so ignore me if I'm wrong, but you do realize that Northwest Airlines Flight 253 originated from Amsterdam? The TSA had nothing to do with the failure to detect the bomb in our would be suicide bomber's panties. Besides, that was more the Terrorists, extremists or what ever we are calling them this week finding a weak point and exploiting it. The truth is that unless we all want to strip down naked, throw our cloths in an incinerator, walk through some observation room where we are scanned, then fully body cavity searched, and then put on the given approved TSA flight robe we will never stop all plots to blow up a plane. And even then whats to stop some really ambitious Terrorist from doing something crazy like releasing a ton of Geese around the run way was an airplane is landing, or drive a van full of explosives onto the loading gate and detonate it, or get an inside man into baggage handling and place a bomb in the cargo department of a plane, or even God forbid somehow get a shoulder launched rocket and pick the planes off on approach. You can never eliminate all risk if you really want to do that you have to stop living because risk of death is 100%.
Now I do agree that the girl in question should have never been allowed to make contact with someone who has not completed the security screening after she has completed it.This is a failure of TSA's crowd control procedures and to cover their asses they went overboard and gave the girl a pat down. They should have put her back through the metal detector/scanner and been done with it, or even better yet not let the girl re-enter the screening area. I mean how hard is it to put up a plexi-glass wall with a one way metal gate like on a subway platform It's a hell of a lot cheaper than those stupid scanners they are installing.
The phone looks nice, but I have always felt that Microsoft has made a calculated mistake in trying to be "Me too" Apple. They will never have the blind, "This device is hot!" following that apple has. M$ should get back to there roots, business. WP is a good piece of software, and has the opportunity to make itself secure and business friendly, but by crippling the platform with single core processors and no removable memory it will never interest power users. But if they go business centric they may have a chance to catch Apple where they are weak, and with RIM imploding they actually have a chance.
So, are we absolutely sure this guy isn't some good scientist gone mad? I mean the whole concept sounds like the start of a crazy bond movie plot, where the Mad Scientist gets fed up with the world's corruption and decides to make a genetically engineered army that will make the work a better place and distract the governments as he creates his G.E.N.E. Bomb that when detonated near space will forcibly convert all of the world to his ideal. "Do expect me to talk?" "No, I expect you to eat your salad Mr. Bond."
Correction -29F Windchill at the South Pole.
When I woke up this morning to go to work I checked the weather and this is what I saw: -14 F, -38 F Windchill in Chicago and -11 F, -39F Windchill at the South Pole. I don't think I've ever seen temps that low before. The good news is that like the temps, traffic into work was way down.
I'd take this assuming there were not stipulations on what is mean by "Slowly". :D Daddy needs a new Ferrari.

Hmm, my windows 7 workstation, not that I wouldn't rather use Linux, thinks your wrong about the real work part... just saying.
That bastard! I know M$ screwed up windows 8 just so they could sell me windows twice. Once for the OEM 8 key and again for my Windows 7 "Upgrade".
News Flash! The PS3's OS is already based off of FreeBSD. So almost mission accomplished!
