I have one OSX box (867 MHz) and a bunch of Slackware and FreebSD boxes. If you want to run KDE, do it on inexpensive x86 (hopefully AMD:) equipment. If you're gonna spend the loot on a Mac, use Aqua. It's a great interface, I love it. My next purchase will definately be a Powerbook (my Thinkpad is beginning to show its age).
Perhaps 'humor' wasn't the best way to express it. 'Charisma' would be better - to me, it lacked the charisma of earlier Blizz games, and I was kind of disappointed in it as a follow-on to WC2. Admittedly, the first time through it it was pretty fun, but I found it's replayability kinda low, including multiplayer.
I played the single-player game, finished it, tried to start again, but it was boring. So we played it online. It was ok for the first week, then it got boring.
Just plain boring. And to the poster below, yes, the credits had their moments. But the game really didn't.
I like RISC processors (I run AIX and Solaris at work). And I like BSD a lot. So my PowerMAC/OSX is a big win for me. OS9 is (was) just as fierce a uni-tasker as Windows, so 2 years ago I would have agreed with you:)
I wasn't bashing Starcraft or Brood War at all. Hell, I still play BW on bnet with some friends frequently.
This by no means changes the fact thet War3 has bad graphics, un-innovative gameplay and no sense of humor. Just because a game sells well doesn't mean it's very good.
I, like lots of people I know, eagerly awaited the release of War3. We all bought it and all of us (6) without exemption, disliked it after about 2 weeks of online play. It's a boring re-hash with 10 year old graphics.
I don't care what awards it's won. It's hard for me to think less of the press, although ocassionally they're correct. And award-givers are like movie critics - do I really need to go further?
Your opinion is valid, but it's an opinion, just like mine:)
Bah! Brood War was (is) one of the greatest games I've ever played. Diablo II pretty much sucked and was a lousy follow-up to a great game (chop-chop-chop). Warcraft III is even worse. Bad graphics, boring gameplay, no sense of humor. Which is too bad because Warcraft II *is* the greatest game I've ever played.
Neverwinter Nights kicks the s**t out of War3, by a light year. I know, they're not the same game type, but War III sucks. Sorry.
Hope Blizz get's it right next time. This is 2 strikes in a row. Not that I'll be playing the next Blizz game on my Mac if M$ buys them anyways...
Yep - I know that, and I noticed I was unclear *after* I posted. What I meant to say is that they are both excellent, but for me Qt won due to its documentation.
I like wxWindows but it's not nearly as well and copiously documented as Qt. Also, being able to build code in Linux, FreeBSD, OSX and Windows (at work) is very, very, very cool.
Humorously, all the artists supporting the RIAA are garbage pop stars anyways. These people woundn't know good music if it fell on their head. It's commercial fodder, produced (sic!) only to bilk the public out of their money anyway. Spears, an artist? HAHA!
Sorry - didn't catch the FreeBSD reference. yes, I'm still sort of screwed in FreeBSD with my geforce, but the only games I run in FreeBSD are Kohan and Civ:CTP and several free ones (LGeneral) which don't use 3d anyway.
Cool. That's good news. I didn't know there was 3d support for the ATI cards. Is it any good?
Also, the driver page for nVidia sez they support the 4400's and the 4600's - how much newer can ya get? I have a Geforce2 now, been looking at a Geforce4 and they're all apparently supported.
I've been using Audacity since 0.97 to record and mix individual tracks from my analog 4-track recorder - it smokes! The only limitations I've hit are those provided by the lackluster driver for my soundcard (f**k creative labs!) - time to get me a Hammerfalle!
I heartily recommend this app to anybody who does any home recording. I've used in in Linux and OS9, I'm sure the win32 version is just fine.

I didn't go see it because I hate movie theaters, they suck, filled with noise. I love ST:TNG, I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD.
The only 2 movies I've gone to see in theaters in years (matinee) are Fellowship and the Two Towers. Just had to see those on the big screen.
I'm sure I'll like Nemesis, I just didn't want to go to a theater.

Again - this is my opinion, we all have one.

Can;t wait for the penguin client for NWN!

Qt all the way!
WOW! Thanks for the pointer. Works quite well!

Cool - Finally XChat, maybe, I'll hafta try it. And yes, I installed X, and yes, I'd still prefer a native version.
... as of some time in January. Oh well, some time off...
hmm. I've had nothing but wonderful luck and great performance with the nVidia drivers. Nice to see ATI jump into the fray, tho.
Oops - guess I should have read more closely... Nope, no racism, I just hate pop music. Like Kravitz, though...

Real musicians make their money on the road.

NVIDIA's drivers may be binary-only, but at least they perform well. Is there any such thing as 3D acceleration for Radeon cards in Linux?
I'd rather have binary drivers that rock than lackluster open-source drivers that don't. No offence anybody writing ATI drivers, keep it up!
"3D support is scheduled to be released Q1 2001." Does Linux 3D exist for ATI cards yet?
I'd love it if NVIDIA had some competition but right now in the Linux 3D space (small it may or may not be) they have none.
"Can't wait for the good modules to start being developed."
There are already lots of good modules. Check out The Spires of Ravenloft
Great - I moved out of Albany 10 years ago because there were no jobs there for a new engineer ...
Out of curiosity, I went to NAs site looking for a client. They only make one for windows? I didn't see one for any other opsys's.
Guess we do need to save PGP.
