    Since you're going to put it in, why not do both?
    Have it set in the prefrences that alow the user to load a gif/jpg/bmp/whatever into the game/memory or to select the minimize option.

    Not much more coding involved right?

    It may be a final release or it may be TP6, I've been a user since TP3 and have had access to my iPod since then, xPlay just keeps getting better, so when xPlay 1.0 or TP6 comes out it should be even better.

    You can even update the firmware with xPlay now, what more could you want?

    They are pushing a flexable cd that plays in a standard cd drive with the use of an adapter.

    So the disks must be the razor.

    OTOH if these were availavle as CDR/RW it might make storage easier if you can reuse the adapters or get a drive that plays them natively.

    I remembered that Morpheus isn't the only client for the fasttrak(IIRC) network.

    I downloaded Kazaa, opted out of all the spyware and was back to downloading.

    So untill they prove that they can shut down the entire fasttrak network disabling one client at a time will get kind of tiresome.

    I agree with you that sometimes it does get hard to scan throught the posts to find which are serious and which are not.

    And yes it would make sense for the govenrment to try to prevent anything that may affect the revenue streams, but I still can't really see this happening.

    1) it was an attempt to be funny, sorry if you didn't find it amusing.

    2) you can port Linux to the Xbox if you don't live in the US and have the DMCA to worry about.

    3) I didn't read anywhere that it is "a tamperproof, yearly-inspected one", do you have more information you'd like to share?

    The Recovery CD reads the extended partition on the hard drive.
    The Quick Restore CD set, which contains all the preinstalled software, is $10 plus shipping (there is a free option).
    If the hard drive had any bad blocks then you should have called tech support, they would have replaced the drive for you.
    Yes the BIOS is lame but what do you expect? If you overclock the system and fried the mobo you wouldn't expect compaq or anyone else to replace the board under warranty would you? And of course you would tell tech support that you overclocked right?

    I would love to code at a place like that.

    I've asked my manager to let me have 5k a year less and let me work 40hours/week(I do that now) but on *my* time, if I wanna code at 3pm for 6 hours, let me.
    His reaction "What if all the programmers want to do that?"
    Hmm, 5K less a year * 12 happy coders == much better morale and tighter code, but my PHmanager won't do it.

    The page doesn't say much about the hard drive "cartridge" other then that it is 10GB and removable.
    Can this be hacked, a 100Gig drive with uncompressed wavs for ultimate in quality.

    The first question I ask new project leads or managers is "do you know how to herd cats?"
    The correct answer is that you can't herd cats.
    They do what they want when they want, just like most programmers.

    MS may be different but I set my own hours unless we have a meeting, I code what I want, when I want and tend to get done on schedule. When I'm on a roll I don't stop, I've worked 14 hours straight before my boss told me to go home for a while, I've also played Q3A for a couple of hours puzzling over a bit of code.

    But this is MS, and it is "the bill" so who knows.

    instead of just selling an extra IP address to those without a router then maybe more people would be interested in buying the extra IP addresses.

    I know I would, especially if they would allow servers, I know my FTP site gets pounded when my band releases our new songs, the fans that we have jump on my server so hard that it's almost painfull to surf from my other boxen.

    Actually Penny-Arcade accepts donations from Pay Pal and From Amazon's Honor system.

    When you make a donation you get stuff, wallpaper mostly, but it's cool stuff.

    They also have mugs on Think-Geek and a book has recently been published.

    Easy, take the case of your system, take a big ass hollow copper tube, with a sealed copper base of course.
    Secure the base to the processor die with some arctic silver or other compound of your choice and some rope, wouldn't want a catsicle when fluffy knocks over your box.
    Fill said copper tube with liquid nitrogen, and a steady drip from your nitrogen storage container, it turns gaseous really fast.
    Boot system, enter bios, overclock to your hearts desire.
    (Just don't forget to take pictures of the rig, and take the heat sink off in a video would be cool too, I'd love to see a P4 3.5 drop the heat sink and become a P4 500Mhz or whatever in half a second.

    It always has a limit that anything bad that happens while using their product is not their fault.

    Heh, I like that, so true.

    It's something to hang beside my copy of the 2.4.15 kernel source code, I had to print it, my boss had a good laugh at it when I showed him, we have a few guys in house who are on the cutting edge of everything they can be and were running 2.4.15, about half lost their work because they were on the bleeding edge.
