    Does Amazon have operations on the ground in Texas?

    The other States that they have started collecting sales tax for have all been where they have warehouses etc. (Indiana was mentioned a couple of months ago.

    This could create business opportunities for online retailers based in states that don't have sales tax. (like Montana)

    Is that a european minivan (VW van) or an american minivan
    (or a japanese minivan for that matter.

    Anyway what matters most with asteroid explosions is the mass, rather than the volume. a typical rock that was the volume of a minivan would be much more massive., whereas a chunk of ice that size would be a similar mass. Of course if it was an iron asteroid it would be even more massive.

    I think they should reconfigure the main deflector to emit a tachyon pulse. That usually works.

    Way back then cellphones were big, ugly analog devices, with poor coverage, and very expensive to use compared to today.
    Ifyou try to introduce some concept before the infrastructure is ready it fails.

    A home computer of that time probably had 2 megs of memory and a 40 meg hard drive (Amiga 600)

    I could believe that some simple life form could suvive on a rock travelling through space for millions of years, but I don't see how it would have survived the heat of the impact event that blasted it beyond escape velocity in the first place

    What about people who live near freeways, railways or airports? Don't they suffer from lack of sleep due to the noise of traffic?

    Maybe some of the solution to those otther noise pollution problems could help in this case.

    Giga is 10^9 pixels, so it would have to be an american billion.(10^9) - it would be a bit hard to get a British Billion (10^12) in that size of picture.

    (and be able to count them.)
    In the British system, 10^9 is called a Milliard, and I think 1,000 british Billions is called a Billiard. (I am not sure how much a snooker would be.
    A Williard is the amount of money that the former head of Bain Capital has invested in the Cayman Islands

    Anyway are there other objects in the image besides stars? (nebulas, galaxies, comets, planets ...

    Not so long ago some underwater treasure hunters retrieved gold from a spanish shipthat was at the bottom of the ocean for centuries. The Spanish Govt sued and got their treasure back, so I think it would be a good idea to get the permission of NASA before going after it.

    Anyway I agree that there would be better ways Bezos could spen his money in order to further space exploration.

    I think that congress should rewrite NASA's charter (or whatever it is called) to allow individuals and companies to make tax free donations to NASA (the same as if they had donated to charities like the Red Cross, United Way, Humane Society etc.
    And also allow sponsorship in return for naming rights (eg the next Rover on mars could be called the "Range Rover (sponsored by Land Rover.
