"BTW, changing the orbital inclination of the ISS at this point would need an act of God or some other divine miracle. "
Or significantly advanced technology. - the original NCC1701 Enterprise could do it probably, and certainly the Next Generation Starfleet ships would have no problems
Once upon a time more than 10% of the people believed that the earth was flat.. It didn't stop this oblate spheroid from spinning, and orbiting the sun etc.
There was a light bomber in World War II called the Douglas A20 Havoc. I would guess that quite a few of them were wrecked.(by being shot down (In RAF service the were called the Boston)
It can't be moving away from us at more than twice the speed of light. Even if we were moving at just ander the speed of light in one direction and it is moving at just under the speed of light in the opposite direction, thats still just under twice the speed of light.
"have never had an add-on broken except when transitioning between major releases."
Thats fine and all when 'major releases' happen once a year or so. Nowdays its about once a fortnight or so. Can you imagine Scotty and Spock having to upgrade the ships software every other episode (or Geordi and Data if you prefer TNG)
For myself I will probably continue using FF5.x for a while while I try out the competition. I certainly won't be upgrading Thunderbird .
A mechanism of world inter-communication will be devised, embracing the whole planet, freed from national hindrances and restrictions, and functioning with marvellous swiftness and perfect regularity.

"Right now, the IAU definition of planet is deliberately limited to our own solar system, just so it doesn't apply to situations extra-solar astronomers have actually already found,"
AFAIK "extra-solar astronomers" are not members of the IAU and are probably not aware that the IAU even exists. Maybe when the news of Pluto's demotion reaches them (which will take a while since there don't seem to be any habitable planets within a few LY of the sun) they could send the IAU a message about it. Of course all aliens understand and speak english in an american accent just like on star trek...
He is not aware that Hobbits are the good guys (at least in LOTR)
Whales will it hold?
I bought an Amiga 1000 on 26-Jul-86
7 years earlier I had bought my first computer (a TRS80)
In 1980 I bought my 2nd computer, that one had color, a disk drive and a keyboard with 117 keys (Compucolor II )
I didn't buy an MS-DOS machine until 1994
The machine I used the longest was an Amiga B2000 1988 to 2002 (I sold it because I left the country, it was still going at the time)
And to those people that say I am old, I'd just like to point out that I work with people who are 50 years older than me.

Hopefully they can also stop bad spellers from entering the country.

Its not like diesel engines are some new technology or something.
I had Amiga computer(s) from 1986 to 2002.,From 1990 or so they used SCSI. Even the A1200 pretended its IDE drive was a SCSI drive.

We can not be sure there are no indigenous Vegans, the star is 26 light years away..

Here is a prediction from 1936
A mechanism of world inter-communication will be devised, embracing the whole planet, freed from national hindrances and restrictions, and functioning with marvellous swiftness and perfect regularity.

And what does a french knight do when his horse gets shot by an arrow, or stuck in the mud?
I guess thats why the cell phone company keeps sending me 'free upgrade' offers. (I am happy with my existing phone thankyou.
Does anyone know if you can make stuff with this new particle? Protons and neutrons make up the nuclei of atoms...
(What is the charge of this new particle? I don't really care about the spin, I will leave that to Fox news.

Anti Aircraft Artillery?

Amateur Athletics Association ?
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm ?
and so on.
I remember playing games based on the first of those (Ack Ack gunner) about 30 years ago
I doubt it. The term 'bipod' has been in use for over a century, as a 2 legged mount for a rifle or light machine gun.
The farthest away people are is in LEO (the ISS) So why do we need to develop faster links to other planets.
You'll have to ask the Vegans? If you send a message there now you could get a reply in 52 years
What horsepower is that engine? There were no stats on his homepage.
How do you get a spacex dragon to Mars orbit in the first place?
Are we expecting the Centauri to show up to give us jumpgate technology
Don't you think that the marketing guys are overdoing it with all these S.I. preffix's

Bulldozer is not exactly a synonym for high speed, low energy consumption and compact size.
