Is this Western Samoa , or American Samoa? (I haven't been to either one, but I have been in the city with the highest population of (western) Samoans ie Auckland.
Back a few generations the people of the islands had to work hard to get their food, climbing coconut trees, subsistance farming and fishing. Driving in to KFC or McD's doesn't use much effeort, and the food is far richer in fats. as well as calories. It seems to have affected them more than the Maori and Cook Island Maori people, probably because the latter have more genetic inheritance from white people. But Samoans can be good athletes if they discipline their diet and exercise - some of them even make the All Blacks (The best rugby team in the world)
A few years back the owner of the local NBC station (and also the local CBS station) had a dissagreement with the cable company and we were without NBC for a while. (There was another CBS channel broadcasting in our local area so we still had CBS). I think the cable company eventually gave in and paid for the local content since it couldn't legally offer us any other NBC station. Of course this is a smaller cable company than comcast, and the owner of the NBC station is a media conglomerate from Texas and the phone company offered another choice of TV provider.
But these days I only wath the local TV for news and wweather anyway, NBC has few shows I would watch.
Suppose I sell someone my harddrive which just happens to contain thousands of (legitimately purchased) MP3 files (and that this is the harddrive that they were originaly purchased and downloaded onto
The original Mini was designed by Sir Alec Issoginis in 1959 and sold as the Morris Mini Minor The Cooper variant came out a couple of years later with an upgraded engine and was very successful in rallies and other motor sport
MacArthur attacked at Inchon and caught them in the flank. Then the forces at the end of the peninsula attacked as well and the NK forces were driven right back to the Yalu river.
He didn't ask for the nukes until the Chinese army attacked and the UN forces were driven back by the sheer numbers.
"All four nuclear nations had designs and probably operational devices for enhanced radiation reduced blast weapons, aka neutron bombs"
Even back in 1970' there were more than 4 nuclear armed nations - USA , USSR, China, Britain and France all had independent nuclear programs and control of the warheads. I think that all the other countries in the Warsaw Pact would have had Russian control of the tactical weapons with their forces.
All the energy we use (apart from Fission reactors and geothermal) comes from a fusion reactor, its just that the reactor is 1 AU away. Most of the energy we use has been stored in the form of carbon (coal) or hydrocarbons (oil and gas) over millions of years. But we can't continue using that source since there is already too much CO2 in the atmosphere..
We can utilise some of tthe energy from that fusion reactor directly (solar) or indirectly (wind) but its not a constant reliable supply. Extracting hydrogrn from water is a way of storing that energy so we can use it when the wind is not blowing and the sun is blocked by clouds or at night, and also as a war of fueling transportation which currently uses carbon based fuels.Hydrogen atill has a better energy density per weight than batteries.
"That's 'only' 580 km of cable, providing the european continent with cheap and green hydro power from Norway."
I thought Europe was bigger than that. At least it was when I last looked at a map.Even if you put this cable straight across the Baltic, its not going to reach all the way to Italy or Greece.
That would be true of physical goods, but what about sales of digital goods, (Music, movies, books, software etc) US customs can't charge excise duty on that, and neither can the Sates
Anyway I thought tax legislation had to pass the House, which isn't likely with the Replicans there.
" A 10Kw grid-tie system is now about $3/watt installed"
And if electricity is 10 cents per KWhr then that will only take 30,000 hrs at full power to pay off the initial investment - how many hours of sunshine do you get per year?
Depends upon your definitions. If you think that a multi-tonne SUV with the aerodynamic efficiency of a brick is a 'car' then you would be right that its not going to go far on battery power. But its not going to go far on gas either. We tried gas powered vehicles in the country I come from a while back and it wasn't too successful. The low energy density and extra weight of the tank to hold the compressed gas was the problem even though the fuel was a lot cheaper than petrol.
But smaller single occupant vehicles powered by electric batteries would work well for city commuting.
"electrical grids need nuclear reactors."
The Gernans don't think so - they're shutting down their nukes.
"such as antibiotic treatments used as placebos for vial infections.""
With proper sterilization techniques, you wouldn't get infections from vials in the first place. (or use new vials so there's no risk of contamination - which they do in US hospitals since they charge so much they have new everything. I guess that might not be an option on the NHS
Long range missile armed drones flying over that part of the Indian ocean off east africa to sink their shios. A Predator is probably too small, you could modify a P3 Orion to do the job, Or use a Global Hawk to spot them and smaller drones operating from a carrier...
There was a Gemini capsule 'on tour' in NZ not sure which one. But I do remember seeing it. I'm from Hawkes Bay so it would have been either in Hastings or Napier.
The interest in space declined a lot in the 70's - I can remember going to a )free) showing of film from the last Apollo mission at the State theatre. there was on;y a handful of people there.

You should probably get Dr Daniel Jackson or Samantha Carter or Dr Rodney McKay to translate it into english first.
I am sure the computers in the NCC1701-E would be able to calculate Bitcoins very efficiently and the power souce does not emit CO2
"Just like Hitler, they went for the Poles first"
I thought the Nowegians were the first to the Poles (Nort and south anyway)

"The neanderthals didn't extinct."
Extinct is a verb now?
" They lost all their hair, lot of weight, their eyes got even bigger and they were transformed into grey aliens."
The grey aliens are the Asgard - they were around elsewhere in the galaxy long before any Homo Sapiens including Neanderthals were on earth
