Wow, now the RIAA is bitching about something else, how many suits are they involved in now? And not to mention that this is somewhat redundant considering that they are the ones who created the current market state, and the situation that they're whining about. Would somebody please put a sock in it?
On a serious note, I wonder why they did'nt do this a long time ago (read windows 95, or first anti-trust lawsuit) it seems that it would have saved them a great deal of headaches.
You can have little doubt that this will soon be employed by the United States military, as they are usually the first to adopt this type of technology. Due to our current technology and training right now we have something like a 50 or 100 to 1 kill ratio (50 to 100 of their soldiers die for every 1 of ours that is killed) If we have bio-mech soldiers how high do you think the odds will go then? Mess with the USA? I think not.
How is it that sending out a com signal to the spacecraft could possibly cost enough to make it necessary to get permission? I just don't understand how sending a simple (understated I know, but bear with me) com signal could cost so much? I know my com signal costs about 40 bux a month, is the johns hopkins budget really that short this year?
I don't really think power would be the problem as some of the solar panels are intact, the real problem as I see is is damaged communications equipment, if you are unable to communicate properly then "resurecting" the equipment will most likely be impossible, I wonder if anybody coughed on it? Maybe the bacteria could help us? hehe, no not likely.
I found myself in the same situation about 8 months ago, so what did I do you ask? Simple, I applied myself to a totally different field of work (granted impossible for some, but I find that the computer types tend to be fairly smart and flexable) I went to work for a car dealership as a salesperson, and get this, I actually suffered from a pay RAISE, now hows that for a good solution to a bad problem?
Let a bunch of crazies loose solving the worlds problems with solutions such as this one for lack of clean water access - simply stick a hose on the tail pipe of one of those hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and follow it around with a jug, or maybe the whole waterworld thing.
No seriously enough I think this is a wonderful idea, when I was in elementary school and junior high school our gifted class was a part of a program entitled "Future Problem Solvers of America" We would work on problems very much like the examples listed in this article. And I must say that for a bunch of 3rd-9th graders we did damn good and came up with a bunch of absolutely brilliant ideas. Now apply this over a group of people 10,000 times the size and of a wider age group and I'm sure that some of the ideas will be absolutely revolutionary and of a most cutting edge nature, and yes I'm sure there will be some crazies, but it's never the bad ideas that are remembered or discussed, it's always the brilliant ones, I think the guys over at MIT are on a very productive track with this idea, and I hope enough people get involved to really make a go of it.
With hard work and diligence I feel that a person in the systems administration field is just as capable of doing the job as a person with a degree, however I have found it to be much harder to get in the door for a job interview without that degree, however if you can get in the door you will most likely be hired anyways if you can impress the employer. However have you considered going into the military particularly the AirForce? They offer killer benefits, and they'll give you a great reference, not to mention extra knowledge in the field that you wish to seek employment and a career in.
yea, but you could still easily tell they were CG, not real, I mean I want to see a movie that is so realistic that you cannot tell without being told.
You state that the CG has improved to the point that it's actually difficult to tell a CG from a real actor, with all of the new CG perfections ironically enough I think that the most important is probably the addition of small imperfections in CG actors, for some reason we just can't accept a perfect actor, it does'nt click with our brains right. I just wonder how long it will be before we have a semi-realistic all CG movie.
I think that this is a good sign, I have always disliked any company practice that is deceptive in any manner, and I feel that it should be illegal for any company to try to deceive customers especially in a way that would hurt other business if their deception tatics work, and lets face the facts, this is targeted at your less-than-average consumer which just makes it all the more insulting and slimy.
I would really like to know how the first post could even POSSIBLY be moderated down because it's redundant, I mean in order to be redundant there would have to be something before it, I think someone let a furbie have moderator access.
You're both very right, however I'm afraid that you missed my point entirely, I feel that when a person pours their heart and soul (represented by said time and effort) into something then it is inherently art, even if it is not visually or mentally pleasing and stimulating (which most games are usually both highly visually and mentally pleasing and stimulating.

How many of those results are for coffee or the island?
Really when you consider it video games are a perfectly valid form of art (possible more so that other "accepted" forms of art ie. elephant with paintbrush makes funny lines) I mean really when you consider the amount of work that goes into one single game relative to the amount of work in say a 4'X 3' painting, you really appreciate exactly what an art it is. And let's even go a step further with our appreciation, this is'nt art that was made with a paintbrush on canvas then magically made to move and respond to your input, no it's art created with code, pure hardcore code with perhaps a few created graphics thrown in, even more impressive is the fact that now most game developers are working in the 3D realm of game programming, that's impressive and most definately art. So before you question whether or not this is a valid and acceptable form of art, just consider that it can take dozens of people years to create one game. Appreciate the effort if nothing else because the amount of effort it takes to complete a game today alone is most likely five to ten times the amount of effort required to create a sculpture or painting.
Come on, everyone knows Microsoft is the most ethical company out there, they would *NEVER* steal a customer from anyone. God knows they're an industry leader in fair trade and low cost software products. Geez this article almost makes them sound like some sort of monopoly, which we all know is impossible.....
I'm not 100% positive, but let's call it at 99.5% I don't think that logo is of a dolphin at all, rather I beleve that to be a whale, the snout is not at all long enough to be a dolphin, and the proportion of tail to body is more whale like than dolphin like. Or maybe I'm just crazy because I guess it does'nt really matter what the damn thing is, the logo is still funky as all hell.
I wonder what you would see with this in the average office, as the day starts I'm sure you'd get alot of/. , MSN , Yahoo , New York Times, then at lunch MapQuest maps , the occasional general interest website, then as the day closes down movie sites, more news, and of course later in the evening you can see what the cleaning crews are doing, looking at porn of course!
Well, from what I see California's problems could all possibly be solved! If this chip can do what they say it can (I'm not buying stock yet, but I'll be watching) California's electricity problems may be completely solved, consider the reduction of electricity consumption and the electricity production capibilities and you see where I'm going with this..... Now if it only works.........
Isn't rather funny how the government trusts ANY operating system that even the manufacturer cannot make secure, lets face it, if ANYONE should be able to make windows secure Microsoft should be the one, however in light of this recent incident I don't believe that it is even possible for windows to be anything even resembling secure. The first problem is the fact that it's closed source, the second problem is that it's sloppy, these two things make it impossible to improve (at least for anyone who doesn't work for MS) and impossible to find out exactly what is and what isn't secure, this should be reason enough to NEVER use this OS in any application where security is the key... but well, it's the government.

Not to mention that it's build 2600 :)

We already have one, it's known as archive.

If I was running the art gallery you know there would be an incredible LAN setup just for Quake deathmatch, I mean what else is there?

Has anyone thought of the possibility of bouncing off the atmosphere?
