    Which goes to show you totally missed the point. It won't do any good no matter how good you are, if you don't get past the boot process.

    And what is the system he suggest, but a means of compensating the artist? Ahh... right... What we really seek is actually to enrich the company executives and share holders, i forgot, silly me.

    Actually I think there's some kind of twisted logic to it. So surely there must be lawsuits that beat it.

  4. Re:What developers? on Microsoft's 'Hands-On' Linux Lab · · Score: 1

    Open Source, especially linux, attracts those who are learning programming. Modifying some OSS program, asking the developers questions and eventually releasing your own.

    It's not about the current crop of developers, but the new blood coming in and what platform they prefer.

    For those of us that left Windows years back, the comments about reboots still holds true. Actually, I think it just gets worse and worse as the years pass.

    And thus we give artists money though various organizations and offer them jobs that do not distract them that much. Same could be true for OSS, though perhaps it should be modeled closer to what the scientist have.

    From this analysis, I belive both devices can be made to explode if the carrier's cover is blown. In the latter case more people are likely to be killed, quite a few infact.

    The Fullmetal Alchemist was on a quest to revive his dead mother... The young brothers studied alchemy hard for years, got togheter all the components that were nessesary to build a human body. Well, not gonna ruin the story for those who haven't read it, but one lost some of his limbs, the other his whole body.

    To learn why he's called Fullmetal, read the manga.

  16. Re:large functions in c++ on Effective C# · · Score: 2, Interesting

    Not only do we avoid paying anything when using inlined functions, but also get really aggressive optimization when using template algorithms. Using std::for_each, std::find_if and friends on containers has become the norm for me, rather than the exception.

    It's funny how they hype the features of new programming languages, while they seem to miss what is already in C++. Personally, i can't really take seriously a language without proper template support.
