    A few people over on the right-wing gun nuts sites are wondering how well those things are going to work when they are hit by a 308 caliber bullet shot from a 1000 meters away. I have been noticing these things getting used more and more.

    Sorry, sending email to some random address is not a valid way to handle problems like this. There should have been a certified letter with return receipt sent at some point, even then it would go the legal department. Email is not the same as a physical letter and how this even got as far to a jury is beyond me. Try going to small claims court and pull "but I sent him an email" and see how far it goes. Bad ruling and in a sane world should be overturned.

    No they won't, Gemstar was doing this in 2001 and it had DRM all over it. This is a bad patent and it needs to die.

    Someone had brought up the idea of a public comment period before issue of a patent. That would at least slow down some of this idiocy. It would be very interesting to see the difference between the 1999 filing and 2007 issuance. I am almost positive that Gemstar had patented their device before this was issued and may have been filed earlier.

    Who in the world gave them a patent on ebooks in 2007? I could see it in 1999, but this sounds like one of those file then modify deals. I guess the patent office has never heard of a Rocketbook or Gemstar. I think the Rocketbook came out in 1998 and the Gemstar REB1100 with all the fancy DRM came out in 2001. I am pretty sure they were not the first. Lawyers and MBAs, there should be a bounty on them.

    The army just needs to expand the warrant office program more and problems like this will go away. Most of the time a warrant officer is the best type of person for these positions.

    Some of them are, the ones that go over the line and say you can never talk about anything about a product ever. There are limits to contracts, such as EULA's and non-compete agreements. This is not normal or customary, so it would get thrown out.

    Not really, this is one of those one-sided contracts that get throw out all the time. There is no consideration for the signing party and that makes it invalid. Plus, in most states there is already a bunch of case law on the books covering a doctor patient relationship. This is an EULA, they aren't valid for software, why would someone think they would work in the physical world.

    NASA has been kicking around the idea of a Space Tug and space vacuum cleaner. The cleaner would be a satellite that has some kind of sticky foam outer shell that will collect the small stuff.

    I think one of the Titan's costs about $50K in real money if you pieced everything out. This is want I loved and hated about Eve. I may have to get back on-line, BOB ran me out of 0.0 about 3 times. This couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of people(Sarcasm).

    Nope, they are going to move NASA over to the DOD budget and cut both. The Ares project is dead and the death of ISS is not far off. On the other hand, if they get rid of Hansen and the rest of his global warming buddies, it might be a good deal.

    NSA has been tapping phone ever since they were created around WW2. It has been widely known that that every phone conversation in DC has been recorded by the NSA for years at least since the 80's. What started this was the little revolution called the Internet and the NSA getting some faster computers to cover more area. The funding boost after 9/11 didn't hurt either.

    You are not legally required to tell your employeers anything? If they fire you, you can just walk out and have no further contact with them. Hell, we had our firewall and proxy server manager quit in the middle of a global confrenance call. He didn't have to give us anything, he could have walked out the door and not told us anything. This guy walks with the right lawyer as long as he doesn't go back into the system after he is fired, him being arrested at exit interview tends to prevent this. Good luck finding another CCIE to work for them after this. The next one is going to want major bucks.

    We love our Romania helpdesk, they actually speak understandable English there instead of "Indian English". The only problem is our current contract they are more expensive per call than the Indians, so only the Europeans get to use them all the time.

    And when did they saying that the 2nd amendment wasn't an individual right? It was somewhere between 1935 and 1968, before 1935 Sears sold full-auto tommy guns out of their catalog. The 1935 NFA act was a tax act because they knew at the time, they couldn't ban guns because of the Second amendment. I am an originalist and the Constitution means exactly what is says it does and if you want to change it, amend it. DC vs Heller is up in front of the Supreme Court in 2008 to decided the matter. DC has already lost the case and is on their last appeal. If Heller wins, most gun laws in the US will be thrown out. Chicago, New York, DC and California will have some major problems with rules they have in place that will go away.

    I want to know why they need to mess with boot.ini in the first place. This yet another reason why I quit playing EVE, their QA department does not exist. I won't even get started on BOB, 0.0, and mining.
