I don't understand why users complain about content being unlocked rather than downloaded. If you paid $50 for the game and were happy about it before, who cares if the content that is added on is unlocked? What's the big deal?
It seems to me like much the same argument as someone saying "but this Athlon XP really can run as a 3200+ instead of a 2500+. AMD sucks for only selling it as a 2500+".
I don't think a lot of people here have any clue how long it takes to develop a game these days.
Top-tier, blockbuster games take 18-24 months minimum with very large teams (40+ people in development alone). A well managed team can shrink the time down to 12 months by inflating the team to 70+ levels, but they have to start with an established technology, lots of experience, and great management.
You can't just release a console next year - you need tons of time to get developers up to speed on the hardware, and start their game designs. It's not a 12 month proposition folks!
Equating a person with a backhoe, a cement trunk, a pizza oven, or a meeting room is precisely the dehumanizing aspect of the word 'resource' I dislike so much.
Is it too much to ask to treat people with respect and dignity? Bringing people down to the level of industrial equipment or commercial kitchen appliances is hardly respectful or dignified IMO.
Not intended as an attack against you, but I question why management decided to roll their own. What competitive advantage did they get by investing all the time and money into making a time card system? Other companies produce those already. Why did they feel it was the best idea?
Remember to discuss maintenance costs in your answer.
Who do they think they are fooling? This machine is built to 'avoid the windows tax' so that people can pirate copies of windows for it. Sell it ultra cheap without the OS 99% of people want, and then let them get a copy from their friends. Nobody wants to run a lame Linux distro on it. They want to steal windows.
Being an owner of 20GB touchpad iPod, I have been waiting for this update to come out for months, ever since it was announced as soon back in May. I want the battery life and sound improvements it promises.
I don't expect Apple to give me more features for free. After all that is why they are selling the new product. I would have loved it, sure, but I don't fault them for it.
There are market realities to deal with; for example, it's not profitable to sell games on any platform except closed consoles, and PCs running Microsoft Windows. To say, then, that writing games for Windows makes you a 'sharecropper' is just offensive.
I should clarify; in my mind, having to pay for a single phone line kills resedential VoIP.
Why would I want to pay $40 to vonage for a service I already have, namely, local calling. Sure, I could get tons of LD calling along with it, but for that I have my mobile.
I would switch to Vonage for their features (like web accessible voicemail) without a second thought, IF I could ditch my ILEC phone line and still keep my DSL.
Sadly, that doesn't seem to be an option around Dallas. And I'm NOT using cable modem.
Does your phone company require a "hot" line for DSL? They (often) don't here; you can have DSL without even paying for dial tone service, and at prices roughly equal to what you describe.
I've never seen a phone company that didn't require a "hot" line as you describe. It's one of the most effective ways they have of blocking VoIP, since you are already paying for the phone line to get broadband.
In a related note, why doesn't FCC require local phone companies to give you DSL lines without attached phone service, at a comparably reduced rate (cynicism notwithstanding)?
Death of Iront and September 11?????

Isn't It Ironic?

What is all this death of irony crap, and age of irony the article mentioned??
Sure, people misuse this word all the time. But this is really the first time I have heard mention of all the true cultural significance of irony, and its connection to September 11. That bit seemed like a steaming load to me.
Rats! This looked pretty promising, but none of the sites seem to sell anything for the 2003 Accord. I hope they come out with one soon - I desperately want to hook up the iPod!
Here's a hint.
iTunes music store is a middleman.
So at best we have replaced one middleman with another.
You paid $50 for the content that was initially available.
You didn't pay for the content they wanted to upsell you.
It's very much the same as a software product delivered with other software on the CDROM, allowing you to unlock them by purchasing the license.
By your argument, then, you have paid for everything on the disc?
...is how many FatWallet users will put their money where their mouth is and stop shopping these retailers for deals?

Hahah I did EXACTLY the same thing.
That sounds incredibly dangerous to have 4 cars speeding through traffic repeatedly.
I checked my Windows XP installation and it has had the patch applied since July 8, 2003. Why is this a news item just now?

Talk about dehumanizing.
Geez.
Sorry for the rant, but this bit of corporate speak is just degrading.
The cards absolutely track player winnings.
If you are a big spender, you can get a statement at the end of the year that lists it all, for tax purposes.
Many casinos issue cards for frequent customers. The cards allow you to build up points, redeemable for comps and such.
These systems already provided plenty of tracking. So the tickets are just a logical extension of this system really.
Assuming I already used a card, I would be happy to slip a ticket in my wallet rather than carry around buckets of heavy coins.

Some guys .JPG of an email he supposedly got at Hotmail serves as proof the game is not delayed????
.JPGs without any corroboration don't cut it.
Give me a break! Rumors and

To expect otherwise is unrealistic.
DirectX conquered GL long ago.
Almost no games now bother to support it, Windows doesn't ship with GL drivers for most cards.
It's been over.
This argument is both ignorant AND offensive.

You forgot 3) The work force is willing to work for a fraction of the cost of a domestic workforce.
This is really the key. Without the lower cost, why outsource at all?

Can anyone else comment on that?
For me features are more important.
I want multiple IPs at reasonable prices, with no silly restrictions in TOS.
DSL is the only way to go for anything like that. Cable is "don't like it? go elsewhere." It may be faster, but its not more useful for me.
I've also been shocked by my 20GB touch-pad ipod (2nd gen I guess, assuming these new ones are 3rd gen?).
I thought it was due to the carpet or the floormat I have in my office. It did seem to die down once spring started.
