    Exactly, the main problem with OTP isn't that you have to store the key in memory, but that sending it to the other party is complicated. These guys have completely missed the point.

    Open source is about copyrights. This is a patent. What relevance does a patent bear on whether a piece of software is open source?

  8. This is often brought up but I don't see what the problem is. Sure you can implement an algorithm in hardware, and sure, you can patent that. But that patent doesn't stop anybody from implementing the same thing in software. Yes, these patents are pointless, but not harmful.

    These are just publicity stunts. Computing is cheap in terms of energy, the energy used by datacenters barely registers in the total energy usage.

    We've had machines that mix softdrinks for decades, if there was demand for an automated bartender they would exist by now.

    This isn't a true quantum computer, it just uses the tunnel effect to minimize functions. So presumably you have to feed some functions to it and it gives back its minimum.

    You're missing the point: mathematical models of programming don't deal with real-world interactions. As soon as a program does some IO, it can be argued that it is part of a machine. That's why patenting computer programs needs to be banned separately.
