What FOSS alternative for Flash/Flex is there? One that produces compatible formats (swf, flavor, etc.) of course.
Same question for Photoshop, as Gimp is rather kinda shitty. Most image editing software I've tried on Linux seems to get some HCI heuristic horrendously wrong.
On the desktop, it is an extremely fluid, extensible, quick yet powerful way of developing visual applications in a language that many love (C++). I would quite like it if I could build applications for the core mobile devices under that exact same setup.
But that isn't what they are aiming for, and you're right, their sights seem set on irrelevancy and failure.
When your core users are using your software SPECIFICALLY for desktop C++ development, bastardizing the software in some schizophrenic, hopeless pursuit of an area few of them want is quite the wrong way to do it.
This is more of an argument about definitions. What the US calls a socialiberalistacommunofascist party (the Democrats) is what the rest if the world would call a 'conservative' party.
If you don't like Comcast and Verizon and AT&T and (insert monopolistic service provider here) violating net neutrality and grossly under-delivering on their promises, then just don't buy from them!
You could say the same things about usurping, gouging and destroying the interests and consumerism of ANY technology or ANY hobby or ANY interest. "just don't buy it" and "they're a business so it's OK" and all variants of these statements are bullshit non-responses and nothing more than flakey attempts to avoid valid criticisms and contempt of abhorrent business practices.
Well, it doesn't help that after some form of openness (ie otherOS, standardized inputs on the PS3), they immediately clamp shut (proprietary memory designed only for maximizing profit and for screwing gamers over) and that they always follow said process.
Why not orient your company and your policies so as not to actively piss off people who like tinkering with their own electronics and people who don't like DRM and spyware-riddled merchandise?
Like Christmas in the US. A month is a bit excessive though.
There are already applications that write better news articles than the average Times or Guardian piece.
I guarantee that RIM, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Yahoo! all have engineers worth far more than any of their (often detrimental) CEOs.

I would FAR rather have my browser NOT bug me about trivial shit that I can adjust at any time.
Couldn't he claim that he was actually defending the sanctity and integrity of the religion from charlitans and superstition?

The point was that Apple changed the market. Whether deservedly or due to pomp and marketing us up to interpretation.

Would you trust some stupid egghead who wants to take away your gas guzzler and teach blasphemy in your child's school?

A sweatervested mastermind sits cackling in a corner somewhere.
They use actual screencaps and promotional materials ripped from the movies and associated trademarked/copyrighted works, without permission.
For most users, the vast majority of free apps are ad-laden and (for many therein) functionally crippled versions of better, paid applications.
I would have a system in place to render their oil useless at a moment's notice. Seems a lot more attainable than a nuke.
JC! A BOMB!
Because Corporations generally dislike consumers, and Sony is at the top of the pile of disdain.
Oh, they love the consumers' wallets, of course.

The Canadian entertainment industry is literally a subsidiary of the American entertainment industries.
If someone is being annoying, confront them. This is nothing but an easy way out with far more potential negatives than positives.
If the transit system thought cell phone usage was inappropriate, they would ban it themselves.
Hell, there's another project for all those stallwart full capitalists on /.
Counterpoint: The prime researcher and developer of the Cell architecture abandoned it as a dead end.
Significant not in number, but in the fact that they dismantled the console's security in less than a year of concentrated effort.
Negligible in numbers, sure, but it destroyed the image of invulnerability and supreme competency they were trying to use.
