Notch once made a game for one of these contests.
He had a multi-staged 2D platformer similar to VVVVVV complete with a level editor.
And this was before VVVVVV, which was considered quite a novel game though not entirely original.
Of course, his 48 hours included going out to dinner and proper sleep each day.
Constraints and the adversity they bring with them can breed a lot of cool things.
"Unless they were stupid enough to really invest into it"
Yeah, the fools that thought it was safe to throw real money into a volatile, unproven and probable to fail system lost money.
But for most people it was a way to utilize idle GPU power and an excuse to buy parts that would later just end up in a rig or two.
3G is faster than most household internet.
Or at least, in eastern and western Canada. I can get a fully sustained 8 to 10+ mbit download and 1.5 to 3+mbit upload which sadly is better than most household connections can attest to.
Equivalent android tablet, he said.
Those chinese tablets are utter garbage and even ones that (Specwise) match an old iPad won't deliver anywhere near the same performance.
The 3G is for Online Play Anywhere.
Anyways, it's making a far harder push for developers (both professional and amateur/indie) than the Wii or 3DS has, which gives it a lot more potential.
Well, they only do it because you guys pay for it.
It's simply vastly more profitable than gaining a small amount more sales by selling at internationally standardized rates.
They would do the same in other countries if they could get away with it.
What?
All you need to read an ebook is a computer. I'm pretty sure there's even web based readers available now.
Granted, that's more of a requirement than the paper copy, which is just having the actual copy.
The spread of the internet alone lets you get it into more peoples' hands. However, there's a far higher risk of those people just spreading your unfinished work, or giving you terrible feedback.
But this does create a market for an entrepreneurial editor who would be willing to review and correct books he's sent over the internet though. Credibility would be an issue at first, but scanlators and similar for foreign works have gotten by alright so there may be some sort of market.
He pointed out that you're pushing a problematic misconception with a succinct post. Probably took less than a minute's consideration. "Deal with it".
"y u mad"
Is trolling a bannable offense on slashdot?
Custom roms are nice but sometimes it's not just the software, it's the hardware. Google (as is logical) redirects everything to HTC, and then HTC does the same thing in the other direction. Both parties claim no responsibility and essentially stonewall any discussion of crucial design flaws or hardware problems.
Google is justified in not caring at all but it really makes the company look like a corporate prick.
CTRL+arrow directions (including up and down) do the exact same thing on Windows. Ubuntu has a similar implementation that often acts a bit poorer. Home/End are just additional options for doing the same thing.
Which is a huge part of the feature.
That, and as mentioned elsewhere, the adblock's effects can sometimes be visible and jarring - post-blocking after loading instead of pre-blocking.
It has always been a political affair and general popularity contest award.
Just a curiosity I have: Did many of these games end up following the same or similar general pattern or patterns? For the actual code, I mean.

And that is a crying shame. Really though. How DID you find that gem?

That would be pretty boss.
The game did many things worse than even the far older WoW or Final Fantasy 11 did. The company seems way too sheltered.
More along the lines of "fuck Android" in general for not supporting the moving of any and all apps to the SD card. This is a matter of user freedom.
Root-agnostic adblock. All the current versions are completely inept.

Free playbooks instead? Nobody wants to buy them anyways. Might as well make some sort of real attempt to keep your current customers.

You forgot 7. Rationalization of the positive outcome of the event via the assumption of superpowered, superscience or extra-terrestrial interference.
If this was just another 50 years of being like you're 80. Or 100. Functionally useless except for the rare exception.
Has made me very often consider jumping ship to iOS.

It's a pretty sharp idea.
I don't know about you, but I find kicking at the snow in fits of inconsolable rage to be quite stress relieving.

What are the purpose of these, since infrastructure problems could/should generally be funded by their respective taxes?
