And Yes, the freescale processors are faster because they are RISC processors. Much of the market in semiconductor industry is outside of computation processors. Most of the time the ASIC are created based on application in mind. For example, an ASIC to go into mobile phones have 2 cores (one DSP core for communication and other general computation core for your applications/os/games to run on)

Hey, You missed the boat Pal. India had already put a spy satellite in space in the previous PSLV launch.A simple search at google gave a dozen stories pointing to this.

On your other points I agree. India has a long standing succesfull space program. India has always invested heavily (relative to other internal investments) and is bearing the fruits now. INSATS (communication satellites),Remote Sensing sattelites, now a weather satellile, PSLV and other launch vehicles have driven indian Space program to new hights.GSLV (GeoStationary Satellite Launch Vehicle) is next, and then maybe a mission to the moon. All this would make India stronger as it helps India earn foreign Exchange and also all the new technology trickles down to the industry.

I think putting spy satellites up there is not the main point and would not buy you much leaverage when you can buy such services on the internet!. But overall , growth of Indian Space industry would help India be stronger in other areas , including defence.

Yes, Hard disk can be removed/added on will, provided a few problems are solved:

    1) Just as ram controller is on chip, the filsystem controller needs to be on chip too - doable with today's technology

    2) However, choosing of filesystem is the difficult part. There are plenty of choices...

    3) Also, reboot should not be necessary, hard disks should be hot plugged , and the O/S should automatically configure them , once the hardware finished creating a file system.

Here is a hint to use patches

    1) make sure your kernel source lies in a directory called 'linux'
    EG. /usr/src/linux

    2) Now goto the parent directory (eg /usr/src)

    3) Now execute the following commond with the downloded patch (be sure you have write permissions in the linux subdirectory)

    $ bzip2 -cd | patch -p0
(that is p zero at the end)

Remeber that patches are incremental, so you have to patch from 2.4.10 to 2.4.11, and then to 2.4.12, and not directly with a single patch to 2.4.10

I have personally patched all the kernel relases (from 2.4.1 till 2.4.12) this way, and it worked every time.

If you stil have problems, do get back to me, and I'll help you

Until now, the highest temperature at which a non-metallic material was magnetic was 255 C.
This means that before this discovery, the highest temprature at which a non metal behaved magnetically was -255 C. So basically, it's a jump of 455 C (from -255 to +200 C). I hope you are more clear now.

If only people use Metric system only , things would be much easier! Scientist should mention tempratures in Kelvins , not in C or F.

All these restrictions are based on stupid decisions. I am from India, and as far as I know we have not all been affected by the sactions imposed earlier. Let me tell you an incident. When the sanctions were imposed after the nuclear tests, we called our supplier in US of A for certain equipment (I dunno how, but it fell into military level) and the person replied. "I am sorry , due to the export restrictions, we can't hand you the equipment, however you can certainly have it from out korea's office." Now who was affected. Your industry only. We got the part anyways. Same goes with software. you can download the patches for encryption from norway. So what's the point spending all the public money in enforcing these stupid and short sighted sanctions.
