  1. Re:Ethics for veggies on In Vitro Grown Meat 'Nearly Possible' · · Score: 1

I suspect it depends on your diet and physiological make up. My wife tends towards a vegetarian diet, and as such we tend to eat vegetarian meals at least 3 times a week. This sort of thing works fine for many people, but I find myself craving meat on days when I haven't eaten any - to the point that I end up snacking. Is this phychological or physiological - I don't know. But I would certainly say that food without meat does not seem as filling to me than that with meat. What works for one person, may not for another - and not just because of "prejudice and ignorance" Written as I enjoy a green salad with carrots for lunch!

  2. Re:A 10pm internet curfew? on Teens Drug Parents To Get Web Access · · Score: 2

Most teenagers understand the consequences in an academic sense, but most have not yet developed the self control to handle the consequences of their actions. This is why in the eyes of the law, you are not viewed as fully accountable for your actions until you are 18. It is also why parents must provide the structure and discipline for their teens - even if they fight it. They will not provide it for themselves and end up being those people that have no jobs, leech off others and do nothing but watch reality tv all day.

I think the predictions of the death of consoles may be a bit premature. A console is merely a walled garden similar to that provided with IOS, but without the portability. So long as there is a place for televisions as a large, immersive non mobile media experience, there will be consoles.

I hugely support free speech, but this falls outside the realms of that. To illustrate: I have the right to call my neighbour a jerk. I probably even have the right to put a sign on my front lawn, with an arrow pointing to his house saying "a jerk lives here." I do not however have the right to put such a sign on HIS lawn. Westboro can spread whatever message they want, but as individuals we all have the right not to listen to them. Once we have expressed this, what happens next is NOT free speech, but rather an attempt to harass others into submitting to their will. Preaching "God Hates Whoever" in your church is like putting a sign on your lawn. Picketing a funeral is definitely putting a sign on your neighbours lawn.
