Ahh memories. I remember when some anti-virus vendors used to pay small cash bounties for new viruses. Of course, it was under the guise of 'doing our best to ensure that we get the fastest fixes for new threats'.
Yes, it's much like telling steady girlfriend version 1.0 that girlfriend version 2.0 is offering a very nice package but you could be pursuaded to stay with v1.0 if it would kindly upgrade itself to 2.0's level and be happy about it.
most people do not know there is much of a sound quality difference
Most people do not know what good speakers sound like either. Without good speakers, they're much less likely to realize that there is a large difference between average mp3 and high quality audio.
Interestingly enough, both Blade Runner and Total Recall were based on books by the same person, Philip K. Dick.
In case anyone is interested in reading those stories:
Actually, I like Opera so much that I bought 2 licenses for the same box (win32 and linux partitions) even though think it's really silly for me to have to pay $15 extra bucks for the extra license.
OTOH, Opera saved more $$$ in time not wasted that it had paid for itself several times over in the first week.
Paying for software that makes my life much easier and frees up time for me to make even more cash isn't Evil at all;)
They do have reference points. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to navigate.
The navigators will always know which way is 'up' relative to their own home solar system.
Most likely, different races of beings would come up with a standard for deciding when 'up' is really 'up'.
For one thing, it would make linking ships together easier...no more arguments like 'Again I say, YOU'RE the one that's upside down!'

It's much easier to charge everyone a little more than a few a LOT more
It's much easier to charge everyone a little more than a few a little more
When charging everyone a little more, few people jump ship. When charging a few a LOT more, those few will find another source.
Not if you redirect the file transfer(s) between two machines with high speed connections.
I have a 26.4 connection at home on a good day. That doesn't stop me from using ssh to transfer files to other boxes that have T1+ connections

Very true. Even Clones either die fast or have defects that the originals didn't.
Not to mention what happened to Australia after Cane Toads were introduced.
Many more examples can be found at this site and using this database
It's not fair that uncoordinated people and those who aren't literate have been targeted by this man!
I like Idiot Explorer's F11 trick of hiding all the interface paraphernalia...
Opera has that also...one of it's better features.
OMG, I'm suddenly having USENET alt.aol-sucks '94+ flashbacks! Is DAwn McGatney still alive? ;)
That's logical.
People who get ill tend to be previously healthy.
Not to mention that solution ends up creating more victims (another sheep to be eaten) instead of stopping crime.
Interestingly enough, both Blade Runner and Total Recall were based on books by the same person, Philip K. Dick. In case anyone is interested in reading those stories:
Bladerunner was 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'
Total Recall was 'We Can Remeber It For You Wholesale'.
The major differences are explained in the FAQ links (to openoffice.org text) at the Sun site.
FAQ question #7 explains the most significant differences between Open Office and Star Office.
Using the ISP's mail server for directly emailing solves the problem?
IANARS, but that wouldn't be directly emailing would it?
Opera is SWEET.>
;)
It IS annoying though that they charged me $15 extra so that I could use Opera under Win32 AND Linux on the same friggin box
OTOH, Opera does remember groups of sites/windows I open so I guess the money I saved balances out the bitching from above
Friggin set the web server to go to the main index page if the previous page wasn't on the same server.
It's not like it's rocket science to make it do that!
Those of us who tried LSD knew quite a bit about Mandelbrot sets far in advance of 'official' discovery.
This is a spoof about people not thinking before clicking, but not very far from the truth
Not to mention the opening scene of James Bond 'Tomorrow Never Dies'

Some do here...fast food establishments integrated with gas stations.
They won't have to keep asking their IT people 'why is our web site down'.
I'm not being a smartass...IIS servers are down much more than Apache .
