Etherium is not a crypto coin. It is a blockchain company/platform with which one can build a crypto coin or any other blockchain based technology. IBM has a blockchain department as do most of the big companies. I wouldn't be surprised to find Alphabet has either their own blockchain company or are heavily invested in a rival blockchain company.
"We have never sold Fi subscribers' location information,"
See how specific this sentence is? "We have never sold FI subscribers' location information". They didn't say they never sell customer information just not FI location information. If the subscriber has, say, a Google account as well and they are logged in to that account on their FI phone well that's an entirely different conversation.
QNX is currently installed in over 50% of all vehicles produced today. If you want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto there aren't any other good options. And if you want secure AGL is still decades away from the security built in to QNX.I welcome competition as it drives innovation. But it will be a while before AGL can compete with QNX.
This fabric will be woven into the finest garment for our illustrious Emperor Tim Cook. And the people will gaze upon the emperor's new clothes in amazement.
You're looking at the war from the wrong direction. History showed us what happens when a strong player in the market decides to implement special features without a standards bodies blessing. Web sites start using the feature making all other browsers behave badly on their site. Which drives users to the browser that works on the site. There are companies literally still using IE 6 because their mission critical intranet application will not work on any other browser. Fast forward to today. Google is the dominant player and Chrome is full of new features that have not been submitted to a W3C or any other standards group. Google is hoping to further edge out (pun intended) the competition. The war is for market share and there are real dollars on the line.
A: We are currently spending somewhere over $50k per family under the poverty line in welfare. We could literally eliminate poverty by just giving them the money we're already spending. The overhead is insane.
And therein lies the real reason your idea will never be implemented. That overhead is political clout handed out as favors to loyal constituents. Or to cousin Louie who needs a job but has no skills. Add to that no politician in his right mind is going to vote to end any endowment laws on the books. That is political suicide.
I was aware but again it is a relationship with Amazon and Sony. Amazon's war with Google has been a bloody mess on both sides. Amazon only allows Prime Video on Android phones because of market share.
I had the same experience as Lukyo at first. And before the UI update last year the interface was a mess. The problem is the same problem early Android had. Too many variables. Most of the OEMs making Android TV devices go for low end and thus under-power their devices to keep them cheap. This leads to frustration when it takes forever to do the simplest of tasks. I got a deal on the Asus Nexus Player. You'd think with the Google Nexus branding this would be their premier device. It was anything but. I eventually gave up and switched to Roku as you did. However the Roku has its own glaring issues which I discovered when I added the HDHomerun Connect quatro ATSC tuner to my network. Roku cannot decode Mpeg2 (TV's with Roku inside can because they already come with an Mpeg2 decoder) which is the standard format ATSC uses. This meant that if I wanted to access the tuner from my Roku I would need to decode it on something else first. While I have a Plex server it isn't fast enough to decode meaning I would first need to upgrade. Then the Nvidia Shield went on sale and I finally decided I'd pay a little extra and see what all the fuss was about. There is a reason it is the #1 Android TV device on every best of lists out there. It is fast! It can handle anything I throw at it. It is supported. Nvidia actively supports the device and negotiates with content providers to make sure it has the apps it needs. This is why you can watch Prime Video on the Shield but you'll need to find an altered APK to get it to work on any other Android TV device. I've since replaced two of my Roku's and am ordering another Shield to replace my last Roku Ultra.
What good does having an extra day off if you're just going to be interrupted by the BOFH who refuses to follow any company policies and calls you on your personal line any time they want?
After the increasing proselytizing of SJW BS of the last few seasons I couldn't finish the last season. I mean how sad is it I welcomed the demise of Bill? She was an insufferable arrogant ass. Abrasive characters can add to a shows entertainment but when the character insults your intelligence at every opportunity it just isn't fun to watch. I had no problem with a female Doctor. In fact the previews I have seen she is an excellent Doctor. But I knew the overwhelming overtones of the series would be SJW slanted so I haven't watched a single episode this season.
I've worked with my fair share of telco as well. AFAIK the substation's generators will not help the VRAD once its battery packs are depleted. I'd be happy to be educated if this is not the case. As for how cablecos do it...as cheap as possible and still avoid a class action lawsuit. After TS Allison my next door neighbor who had Comcast was without service for six months! And we weren't even in a flooded area. Can't say enough bad things about cable.
During an electrical outage landline phones still work. They're self powered.
They are not self powered. They are powered by the telco exchange switch which is also on battery back up should they lose power. If you have even a modest Internet set up you should have the modem, router, and switch on UPS. Put the Ooma on that UPS and your phone works as long as the internet does. Even the telco exchange will eventually go down unless they have a generator.
I would love nothing more than to see DirectX DIAF but the truth is no developer is going to rewrite their existing code because there is no $$$ in it. Therefore, if I can get all my Steam games to work on a Linux kernel via a Microsoft derived Linux kernel/DirectX implementation I'm all for it.
Heh, If that were actually the reason corporations still use IE. Try hundreds of thousands of corporate apps/intranet web sites dependent on ActiveX. Microsoft abandoned their JAVA competitor but aint no CIO that wants to foot the bill to retool all of those corporate web apps to something else as long as IE 11 still works on Windows 10.
Shouldn't it be made out of tinfoil?

It only took 20 years but I finally got a first post! All the humorous butthurt comments are just icing on the cake.

Wasn't there a story here yesterday saying the oceans were getting colder?
It's not just Huawei doing shit like this, ALL 3 letter-government agencies have tentacles like this.
FTFY
I recently discovered this site and it makes wading through all the choices so much easier.

Before the iPhone, Gesture were a Gimmick
Except for the millions of Palm Pilot users.
All the way to 11!

Cambridge Analytica wasn't a failure of the system but rather the system working exactly as designed.
Exactly. I suspect FB has/had similar relationships with thousands of other businesses. It is, after all, their very business model.
When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.

they will be replacing the Windows kernel with the Linux kernel with a Win32 compatibility layer for running Windows apps on Linux
If they can get DirectX working the Linux kernel with a minimal performance penalty then I say HELL YES!!!!
