    They have a production sample ready for the SOC integration, that looks all nice, but does the production scale well? Could this actually is be price comparable or cheaper then the NAND flash?

    This is a great day for FreeBSD folk, now FreeBSD is even faster then W8 in some benchmarks. The closed source driver is a non-issue as long as nVidia would provide continuous support for it. Lots of key software is now working on FreeBSD like Libre and Apache office suites. PlayStation 4 is using FreeBSD too, so the AMD driver could also happen, interesting times!

    Nope, we have lost the Roman concrete precisely thanks to the Christian led purges of the 4th century. Constantine and Theodosius did it and the dark age quickly followed. They burned libraries, melted artworks dating back to the Etruscan era, history been rewritten so they are the saints now..

    PC games will be limited due to 32bit backwards compatibility issue, like 50% of the market is still 32bit. So buy yourself 16GB of RAM, but no game is gonna use it. Per process limit (32bit Windows) is about 2GB.. Cheers.

    Not backwards compatible. The problem is that the old Xbox 360 has IBM Power inside while this new one is gonna get AMD64. The new CPU will probably not be that much faster, but the GPU should be plenty fast.

    The PS Vita has a lot of good games, assuming you like japanese games.

    There other interesting tidbits revealed in this case. It looks like there are groups of people that actively use open source software to exploit ideas whithin them for their gains. Then companies like Rackspace that naively hurried to adopt the open source "free platforms" are now faced with unexpected "hidden fees" from patent parasites that crawl along.

    There many applications that run without an "OS", sometimes even made to fit inside the CPU's cache, big advantage is that no OS overhead is involved, lots of dedicated console setups or micro controller software uses such configuration for example.

    Your anecdotal consumer grade experiences are spot on, perhaps we are witnessing another example of marketing win over engineering. Berkeley GEOS and IBM OS/2 vs MS Windows spring to mind also.
