That being said it is used in pretty much every purpose that middle east oil is used for, it is just refined in the US and used here. The US uses more gas then diesel so we also have refineries that crack down more of the diesel into gas (which is an inefficient process because diesel is more energy efficient to start out with).

And that is the problem. An example: Music playlist patent on an ipod like device. It is obvious but I am ok with that patent for the first time if it was not used before. But then to allow a new FRESH patent when you put this on a built in car stereo is crazy. It is more then obvious, it has been done, just not there. Once the car stereo had a big enough computer, there was no real 'invention' to allow a patent on that item.

It will not work long term. The big game studios and makers have enjoyed some of the largest profits in history without doing this. The pirate 'customer' now will have a better product then the paid customer. Sometimes companies fail to understand the ecosystem effect of having these used sellers out there. The used sellers make a small amount of money, but they bring money back to the consumer who spends it on NEW games and the used seller may bring in a second new customer that eventually buys full priced games as well. Just because a company Gamefly makes a little money, does not mean that the money was sucked out of Sony. With Gamefly (and like companies) in the gaming ecosystem, Sony may make MORE money. Too bad they do not understand this.

I am sure the dealers looked at the Volt as way to make a quick buck when they saw the Prius selling over list price but the Volt just is not good enough. The expected MPG was near Prius levels but in end it was 15% less. The expected price after the federal credit was $30k, but in the end it was closer to $35k.
