Its pertinent for reasons simpler than that.

Box rentals cost $a per month times #b boxes + $c installation cost + $d support cost.
    This device costs $k + $l install cost + $d support cost
So for an initial proposal, $device must be less than $rental.

I also recall there are some odd accounting rules where it can be better to lease or rent equipment instead of buying it. Or maybe its the other way around. One is the purchase of an asset and you can deduct depreciation the other is an operational expense.

If he was so dead set against it, why didn't he introduce a bill to outlaw it when he was a Senator? At least an Executive Order.

This is why we're so jaded about politics in America, we elect candidates who make campaign promises. Many of those promises are implementable with formal actions that will make them stick beyond their term in office, and they don't get it done.

Do "government services" include social welfare? Or are they restricted to the usual libertarian "essential services", such as army/police/firemen?

That's the point. I don't want to reduce the size of the government all across the board - I want to curtail its infringements of civil rights.

Thats the point I'm trying to make, its going to vary candidate to candidate what services would be on the chopping block.

I wish I had my notes from the last state LP convention I went to, we had the same discussion within the party. Another member and I were very strongly in favor, almost socialists, about public education and we got into it with another member that felt that public education was one of the worst things to ever exist.

The closest we came to a common ground was that we had concerns about things like standardized testing, failing public schools, and voucher options were worth exploring. In my case it was to spend the same amounts and get more out of it, in his case it was to expose the faults in the public schools and start to scale them back.

Not really - not if you ignore all other third parties.

Genuinely curious, examples? Especially from other countries.

The LP is an option. The Libertarian Party is not an anarchist movement, the LP recognizes that there is some necessary level of government services.

Radical LP candidates espouse cutting it to the bone. More moderate candidates reflect the views of the GP, these candidates do not think that cutting government to the bone is the right answer, but they do see useless programs, pork projects, earmarks, and general wastefulness and inefficiency.

Furthermore even if the LP suddenly got a majority in the legislature and control of the executive, you wouldn't be looking at government being cut by 90% overnight. There would be the long slog of horsetrading, analysis, and BSing that you see now. The difference would be that the arguments would be about where to reduce the size of government than where to increase it.

The LP is the ONLY party that consistently promises to examine government spending across the board. With the R's and D's you may see cuts in one area, but it will just be spent in another.

The label of "conservative" and "liberal" are really misnomers, they both distort and fail to describe what people use the terms for.

I'm not opposed to the Intel device, other people using them can help me decide what devices to micromanage but its just not something that I can get value out of. It may also happen that, like most electronics, devices like it get cheaper and more useful.

"Green" means spending money on this monitoring device, it means buying a new car when the old one could just use a good tune up, it means feeling good but not accomplishing anything. There are lots of good reasons to have gender specific clubs at all ages:
    1) At younger ages boys and girls often have different developmental needs
    2) These clubs expose the genders to positive role models they can directly relate to. This is becoming especiallly important in the age of single parents, you need to have kids that grow up under positive role models of both genders.
    3) Most kids learn how to interact with the opposite gender quite normally all day in the real world
    4) These clubs are ultimately PRIVATE. Are you willing to sacrifice their rights for unisexing?
    5) Ever heard of "man caves" or "girls night out", I don't care what age you are, males and females are different and from time to time need their space to be around their own gender.

Your intentions are good, but no matter how much we want everyone to be equal we also have to embrace and make the most of our differences or we'll be stuck in some watered down dull society that never makes omlettes because its afraid of breaking eggs.
