In the case of Stalin, wasn't it "if you protest, you get a one way ticket to the gulag?" How many beatings and how much harassment did Lech Walesa take while organizing against the commies in Poland?
Criticizing companies that claim to be experts at something, but then get stumped by a fairly simple issue, should be lauded, and the names of these companies should be published.
What if this chance "hunch" never took place? What if the "reputation" of the experts was believed, as it often is, since they are experts demanding astronomical fees for their services, and the DVD was believed to be completely defective, and it and the case both tossed? Don't you think something like this should be corrected?
Obviously backup plans are desirable, but that doesn't let off the hook those two companies.
So what kind of repayment structure is there to ensuret money returns to the taxpayer, instead of shifting silently into the pockets of the wealthy dot-com types on the West coast?
Actually, by Karmizin's own admission, they did not entirely understand the debt obligations that XM carried when they merged. Once they realized how much was due, the credit marker tanked and they couldn't get better terms. So at least in this respect, they could have done a better job.
Remember how the stock absolutely tanked when they announced issuance of more shares?
3% of what? 3% of total US oil consuption? Or 3% of gasoline consumption from passanger cars?
It's easy to toss around statistics.
First, who's to say how accurate that study was. And second, what percentage of _crude_ oil use in the US (diesel, kerosene, gasolene, trucking, byproducts like plastic, etc, etc) is due to passanger cars?
And lastly, what are the chances of everyone in the US getting together and checking their tire pressure systematically?
After all is said and done, that 3% would probably be a fraction of itself even if everyone inflated their tires properly.
You're comparing actual (ThinkPad) to claimed (Apple). A bit of orange to apple? The 15" was supposed to get upwards of 3.5 hours. My coworker doesn't een get close to two. So the 5 hours on the Air shouldn't be assumed to be true.
It's funy that "King of All Media" as relating to Stern is always prepositioned with "self-titled".
Stern's use of "King of All Media" was a commentary on Michael Jackson's self-annointed "King of Pop" monicker, where no one in the media ever pointed out that it was a term that Jackson gave to himself. Double standard? Dislike of Stern? I dunno. Maybe Stern should have paid a PR company to popularize the label, instead of using it on the air one day as a response to Jackson using "King of Pop" in one of his press releases when he was still relevant.
Why don't the vapid bobble-heads on ET and Extra call him the "self-titled King of Pop"?
Random searches? All you have in that bag is a game box, and a toy of some sort that you just bought there. It isn't like you have a dildo there, or a collection of bondage porno which would put you at considerable embarassment if revealed, or sent you to jail. And any accusations that would have come up as a result of such a search would have been thrown out because they came as a result of an illegal search. Barring that, it's just a common courtesy of an honest person to a business to help them fight fraud.
Why not look at it from the point of view of the store? They're fighting fraud and shoplifting from many angles, and doing the best they can to protect their assets. But they're big business. "Free thinkers" are supposed to be against everything business.
Would it have made a difference if the first person was wearing some sort of a store uniform to not make them "any random person"?
And if this person has had such "altercations" before, wouldn't it have been more effective to make a protest to the store manager and promise never to shop at these big box stores?
Protections like what? Spilling water on your laptop like a clutz? Not having a receipt or even a credit card statement proving your purchase? I'd hope these "protections" wouldn't be available in the US.
Wow, did you actually call US troops, who are making great sacrifices for their country and honor, morons?
And do I have it right in that you're telling them what to do in a combat situation, while sitting behind your disgusting, bacteria infested keyboard stuffing your face with nachos?
Russia's actions are much more appalling because they are done in such openness, with such indifference to how easily it can be traced back to the state, underscoring their government's brazenness in doing whatever the heck they feel like doing. The list includes jailing an oil tycoon and using a fake company -- with shown ties to the government and billions of dollars that it gathered seemingly out of nowhere, to bid for the oil company, when sell it back to the state for pennies on the dollar. Or cutting off natural gas to entire countries in the midst of the coldest winter in years.
It is amazing to me how nothing has changed in Russia since the cold war, the KGB, Solidarity, etc. Russia is the big bully of Europe and there doesn't appear anyone that can stand up to them, and there's definitely too many business/trade ties for other governments to use any strong tactics to chastise Putin.
1. Invent JoltCola for birds 2. Create a NGO for the support of migratory birts that lack funds for their basic needs, and make everyone feel bad that they wouldn't spare a dime for the poor birds. 3. Profit!
I think that the point the previous posters made is that independant-minded free thinkers are not supposed to point out flaws in news outlets other than Fox News, which is the only biased and inperfect station around.
(I assume) Google already trademarked their name, so popularizing the term will not make it impossible for them to trademark it, cause they already hold the trademark.
They are concerned that when you say "google it," the term will get so generic that many people will understand it to mean search online, using Yahoo, ask.com, or google.
Frankly, I don't understand their concern. People could just as easily say "just search it online" instead of "just google it". Hell they could even use "just yahoo it." At the very least, their brand name is being used in the context, and anyone new to the internet who hears the term over and over, will come accross google.com and think that it is the real McCoy, just like I believe Kleenex tissues to be the real McCoy of tissues, anything else being a cheap, generic knockoff.
In the case of Stalin, wasn't it "if you protest, you get a one way ticket to the gulag?" How many beatings and how much harassment did Lech Walesa take while organizing against the commies in Poland?
How would you forsee what point would be in contention months later to include it in the "key points" jotted down on a pad?

Yes, time to backtrack.
But anyway, even though Lenovo bought the Thinkpad brand, much of the design and support of Thinkpads still happens in the states.
Try calling their hardware support. You'll get someone in Georgia (US).
If NBC was doing that much editing, why would they NOT cut out the one (maybe more?) shot of Bush yawning and looking at his watch?
Surely its much better for them to show everyone being completely interested, involved and smiling at the event?

That would require a completely new patent, so we might see this in 8 years or so.
Why choose?

What a weak wager. For $50 I'd say that _every_ (not just some) "elder" in brooklyn yearns for the old times.
God forbid we should ever face that eventuality. (no sarcasm tags)

You let someone else decide what you can watch? No, not a drooling idiot. More a drooling infant being handled with kid gloves.

If you shoot your bullets for all the stuff that doesn't matter, what will you have to fight with when it counts?
The receipt didn't prove anything because you don't know what's in the bag.

Should invest in a $50 trickle charger, I guess?
