Better yet don't answer the phone while you're driving or place calls.
In the past I rode with someone who answered the cell phone while driving in a 25mph zone, the change in the driving from being attentive to completely oblivious of anything not on the other end of the phone was perhaps the single scariest event this past year. Never have I felt less safe in a 25mph zone with almost no traffic, it's amazing I made it out alive.
Nothing is so important you need to put everyone else at risk instead of waiting a few minutes and picking up the voicemail later.
The saying goes "Jack of all trades, master of none", it's not just random chance you know.
You almost had me convinced, until I remembered the following:
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
-Robert A. Heinlein
And just earlier today I was reading a comment right here on slashdot where someone was ranting because ATI wasn't letting the community do the driver development instead of doing it in-house.
Talk about polar opposites swimming in the same pond.
If you're going to choose 8 reasons to not use a product then at least back up those reasons. All of the assertive tip toeing is boring, and tells us you don't really think those reasons are all that valid yourself.
I love how a valid concern about the environment, the very thing for which hybrid cars are supposed to be designed to help, gets modded down as flamebait.
You're missing the point, math isn't just about the numbers. Math is also about problem solving and reasoning skills. What easier way is there to teach those skills in the abstract than math?
one of Nasa's experiments went wrong and a wide spread infection of wisdom is being reported in mass quantities among only the emo-teens who frequent myspace.
I'm also hoping to get my anti-aging device working Mine seems to be working now, everyone keeps telling me I look 4 years younger now. Who would have thought the anti-aging device would be something so cheap as a razor blade?
As a manager now, I would fire anyone who uses stored procedures. Even if it is "faster." As a database engineer I would refuse to work for such an incompetant manager who clearly doesn't understand the technology he is managing, but chooses to micromanage the implementation.
Can we get one that can cook and clean too?

If this helps to keep our brave firefighters safer in the heat of the moment while in the action of trying to save us, I am all for it!
You almost had me convinced, until I remembered the following:
why does everyone keep modding me down?
*scratches head*
Maybe I should see about getting my brain replaced.
*scratches head again*
Wait. What was the question again?
*scratches head yet again*
Hmm, 42. That's the answer, but what was the question?
Move along!
Ahh yes, I found the comment I was talking about earlier, it can be read right here.

It's it's the mark of the beast!
we can all tote around a shiny new-fangled solar powered cell phone?
Does this come pre-installed with a rootkit, or do we have to buy that seperate?

stacks and stacks of the dead batteries from hybrid cars is better for our environment than emissions from conventional gas engines how?
Does this mean inflation is slowing, or perhaps even reversing?
Internet 2.0 + Cigarette 1.0 = Firewall 0.0
I for one welcome our new smoking homeless firewall defeating overlords of the internet 2.0 era.

You seem a little paranoid, have you switched your desktop to OpenBSD yet?
What!?!? You mean you don't already have a beowulf cluster of these?

I know, we could make a jump to conclusions matt...
On a related note to the article, this is good news.
Once again, the movies/tv shows have lead the way to developing new technology!
