  1. Saddam isn't the only one to blame on Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Death · · Score: 1

This is not an "October Surprise"; as some have said the verdict was a forgone conclusion.
Once again, our government does the wash, rinse, repeat method of screwing other countries:

Wash our hands of the previous "US friendly" nut job,
Rinse away the human rights of the people in said country,
Repeat the same mistake by installing another nut job by force using the CIA and/or US military.

Saddam Hussein is not the only one to blame for what happened to the 148 Iraqis; American hands are dirty as well.

What we need is the equivelent of the "Prime Directive" in our foreign policy.

Our government is bread and circuses, my friends. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses

Look, when our ancestors were exploring the seas and new continents, they found a whole new assortment of ways to die. They lost quite a few ships (and the crew). Space exploration is very much the same. If we want to go back to the moon, to Mars and beyond, we have to face the facts that people WILL die in the attempt. Spacecraft will leak atmosphere, power will go out, airlocks will fail, space debris will hit and kill someone or total a CEV. Exploration of the depths of the ocean and the vacuum of space will be for the people who are willing to risk their lives in the attempt.

Now they are talking about using a "aerodynamic shell", with an engine to adjust trajectory, to send satellites into space. Did anyone else notice that the nose of the shell is tungsten?

  16. Re:The Rise & Fall of My Country on House Panel Approves Electronic Surveillance Bill · · Score: 1

    Here's something to think about:

Do you go to other peoples homes and shit in their pool?

How do you think they'd feel about that?

That's what American policy has been for the last 50+ years: the politicians send the military into someone elses country and mess it up.

The people in these countries get to clean up the mess just like the people with the pool. Neither of them like having to clean up someone elses mess. Especially if that mess includes their friends and family getting killed.

Perhaps you should try looking at the situation from their side. Would you like to have another country send their troops over here and mess up our country?

And, before you start babbling about having the greatest military and no one can beat us (blah, blah, blah), consider this:

According to the US Census Bureau, there are currently 299,802,372 people in the USA.

According to the US Census Bureau, there are currently 6,545,753,312 people on Earth.

That means there are 6,245,950,940 people who are NOT Americans.

To make it a little more personal, that means there could one day be ~21 people gunning for YOU if we keep shitting in their pool.
