Who cares about Windows 8 ? It's just more bloated garbage from Microsoft - a company that is now becomming increasingly irrelevant in todays IT domain. Google has seen to that.
The CLI is for power users and those who want to do some digging for themselves. The day they drop the CLI from an OS is the day all end-users will be treated as retards, if they haven't already. MicroCrap is slowly removing all useful functionality from the CLI whilst Canonical is making it harder to access the cli in Ubuntu to get useful work done. Both companies are hostile to users having control over their own desktop. Google is probably the worst offender with it's blatant privacy abuses and proprietary use of FOSS code but that's another issue alltogether.
Ubuntu 12.04 is still a bloated mess and unless you're a masochist who likes to tinker, then Gnome Classic is not a suitable desktop alternative either. The only sane desktop environments left now are Xfce, LXDE, Cinnamon and many smaller lightweight DE's like openbox. Debian is the only real option for proven stability and customization. These bloated Debian spinoffs are a world of hurt.
Desktop environments like Unity & Gnome 3 Shell were designed by misguided lunatics with no concept of what makes a good graphical user interface. They have basically given power users the big finger and are now treating all users like brain dead simpletons. It's bad enough that such moronic interfaces are being offerred by default but now core functionality is being ripped out of Linux distros in a lame effort to make them simpler ? I fail to see the logic here - it seems to me this is all about taking control away from the user and restricting what they can do. Well I for one say F**k off and let me choose my own desktop which works the way I want. Which is why I run Debian.
XP was a security disaster even *before* it was released.
No elevated privilege security model
An unstable registry
No Firewall
Weak permissions handling
A malware magnet
Need I go on ? Some of these issues have been addressed but others like no privilege esacalation are design flaws.
Gnome classic with GTK3 is missing a lot of functionality and is nothing like Gnome 2.3x in flexibility. Cinnamon looks promising as a Gnome 3 shell replacment but right now it's still a work in progress.
Surveillance technology in CE devices is nothing new. I remember back in the late 1980's when cable tv boxes were proven to have embedded cameras which spyed on users.
Adobe never had any interest in supporting GNU/Linux for the long run since they are mostly a Windows shop. With the rapid proliferation of HTML5/WebM there really is no need to worry about Adobe's woefully insecure and buggy flash technology. Flash is one of the biggest causes of heavy web browser resource usage and instability and I for one can't wait to see the end of this dreadful piece of software. It's been a boil on the surface of the web.
As for Adobe's other products - they are all bloated, overpriced and user-hostile. Many alternatives exist which cost considerably less. One can do fine without Adobe.
Discrimination is RIFE in the workplace. Employers take exception to people with hearing or other disabilities which they dislike despite it being illegal.
Firefox's rapid release schedule has not impacted on the compatibility of add-ons to the degree that this statement makes. That's just misinformation. My biggest beef with Firefox is the continual memory leaks and high cpu load when opening a large number of tabs. This issue has **still** not been addressed.
It won't happen. A lot of device drivers utilize patented code which is rigorously protected by many software companies. The GPL is not suitable for those who want to maintain control over their code. Proprietary drivers are a necessary evil if one is using a FOSS operating system with specialized hardware.
So much for free speech. Then again, Twitter and Farcebook are full of social retards and narcissists with no idea their activity is being actively monitored.
This is a laughable propaganda from Microscoff.
Anyone with some sense knows that Microsoft's flawed operating systems are the largest contributor to Botnets. It's like using a fly swatter to stop the spread of a locust invasion.
Only clueless idiots and fools use social networking sites. All their online activity is being actively monitored and used against them yet try explaining that to people who can't see beyond fast food and Best Buy.
GNU/Linux offers stability, security, performance and a low cost of entry. However, the biggest reason for switching to Linux is freedom - the ability to customize and use the OS as you choose. Using a Microsoft or other proprietary OS makes the end-user a hostile victim to the whims of the (unethical) corporations that own it.
I cannot stand the childish and immature desktop environments that are being forced upon end-users. Unity/Gnome Shell are both awkward, clunky, unusable and feel like a shameless ripoff of Mac OS X in feel. I sure as hell don't want a desktop environment that restricts what I can do and offers me no customization - that sucks. For these reasons I've chosen Xfce4 on all of my Debian installs as it's the only SANE desktop environment left for power users and those with common sense.
I have more faith in material printed in the Britannica than some random screed posted on the web. I value my Britannica's because they are a reminder that human knowledge in printed form will outlast the mediums of today.
I'm tired of hearing about Linus' inane ramblings about what's broken with various linux distros. It's not llike the guy sets the standard for distro design since he only developed the base kernel. Printers should be installed by administrators and not clueless end-users who will mess things up so it makes perfect sense to give printer installation and management to a higher priveleged user.
Ballmers opinions are about as useful as used toilet paper.

Venus does look really bright in the evening.

Kubuntu is one of the worst KDE-based Linux distros around. No wonder Canonical wanted nothing to do with it.
Parents should spend time actually listening to their kids and disciplining them properly instead of filling their heads with racist tirades.
Microsoft contributes nothing but pain and misery. Their Linux "efforts" have more to do with Hyper-V and being forced to offload some code as GPLed.

Poor advice. There is no need for anyone to buy anything beyond a HDTV. This is all marketing BS delivered by a corporate-paid shill.
