    I need to probably seriously set up a development environment to examine this, but it seems that there are probably some pretty serious program ineffencies, if throwing a processor upgrade at the problem decreases the time 14x, as the article seemed to indicate.

    It's like when I added 2,457 files to a VLC play list. It took 55 minutes to complete the operation. I immediatly downloaded the VLC code, and went looking through it...

    It loops, while(1), through a piece of code that is commented "/* Change this, it is extremely slow */", or some such. The moment I have a C/C++ Linux development environment functioning, I am going to fix that, if it hasn't been already, as well as looking into the SVN problem.

    I am pretty frustrated with Subversion, and all I do is manage a few pieces of source code with it. It's always farking my things up, it seems. Well, at least once a month or two, I'm mucking around with the internals of the repository to fix crap that svn did.

    Also, SVN doesn't -have- a way to rollback.

    Already passed, too. And it was 40 miles away from where I live.

    Next county over does pickups of this kinda stuff every week, but looking at 50-60 miles minimum to get rid of it.

    A 6200 is considered absolute garbage by current standards. Note that these reviewers consider the X1650, which is at least somewhat better than a 6200, as "unusable".

    Unless you're happy sticking to old-time video resolutions, a 6200 is worthless. I know, I'm using one right now. We're equipped here with the following video on computers that I'm responsible for:

    NV 7600GS
    NV 6200
    NV 6150 Mobile
    ATI 9600
    ATI 9550
    ATI 7000 (computer not used for 3d at all, but I couldn't find anything cheaper than $20 when I needed a video card for it)

    7600 = w00t

    everything else = sux

    Your post makes you look like a complete moron.

    In the early days of this country, especially during the Westward expansion, the majority of people carried guns. Strangely, the majority of people still managed to not get themselves killed because of it.

    And, of course, there are places where gun ownership is mandatory. At least two cities in the U.S. that I have heard of recently, as well as (Switzerland? Sweden? both?) ...

    There are a few cities in the U.S., where gun ownership is mandatory.

    They haven't been cut down to a handful of citizens remaining in those cities, yet.

    What stops this, is that many people don't -want- to own a gun. I support -everyone-'s right to carry. If -everyone- were able to carry, then anyone who is not willing to risk their own life when they attack somene, is just plain not going to do it.

    Of course, had there been any armed people within the areas that he went nuts in, he would've had a much lower bodycount, as his would've been amongst the first few.

    People should be able to defend themself from their assailants, and if their assailants have guns, then you can't expect them to defend themselves with knives.

    You should check your drive in another machine, to see if it works properly. HP dv6000 here works perfectly booting from a whole host of USB devices.

    This guy probably was screwing around and set his BIOS password, or one of his friends was screwing around and did it, and now he's trying to setup some gigantic conspiracy theory.

    Once you had everything pretty well pumped up, though (literally), and the training missions in (I still haven't passed flight training, I had to download someone's saved game to get past that.. although I did do ALL the other flight missions.. flying through those damn circles is just impossible for me.. also makes playing the MTA Race impossible for me, because I seem to be the only person who plays it that can't fly worth a damn), and got the hell out of the shit jobs at the beginning, the game got a LOT better.

    I almost gave up on SA towards the end of the first third, and then once I got into the second city, the game became sweet again.. then it started introducing characters from GTA3 and VC, and it was awesome. But, the first part absolutely sucked.

    You could definitely get in the Dodo and fly it around. I've seen people do it. Never got that far in the first GTA3 game, though, I always got lost once the second island opened up :(

    This sounds really interesting, although their web site is a little lacking on non-techie details. (not that I don't enjoy the techie details, but there's little information on exactly what it does, and how to get it to do cool stuff) So, I downloaded it, and whenever I run it, my computer instantly reboots.

    I think neither of these projects "get it". The weapons are horrible, especially so in Warsow. Actually worse than in the original Unreal game, and man those weapons -suck-. The movement is -bizarre-, in both of them, I had to crank sensitivity over 120 before they were close to a 75 setting in Quake 1/2/3. I don't know how anyone on earth could ever play with the default 3 or even the slider max at 20 ...

    Aside from some insane graphical improvements for their respective engines, these games -blow-.

    I do that with any TV that is on a blue screen or black screen .. wether it be the video channel, or just covering up for lack of signal.
