That math doesn't quite work out. The "five times as likely" part doesn't quite hold up. Perhaps someone could help me understand.
To fulfill "There should be five giant strong architectures out there that can emulate each other," here are 5 CPU architectures we could use: PowerPC, MIPS, Alpha AXP, UltraSPARC, and x86 5 OS architectures we could use: Windows, Linux, *BSD (including Mac OS X), QNX, and BeOS.
If the transfer rate is 80 GB/sec and the capacity is 224 GB, how can 224 GB hold only 27 copies of the human genome while 80 GB/sec be enough speed to relay the same data 100 times a sec? I figure someone got the numbers backwards. They meant to say that the thing holds 100 copies of the human genome and relays 27 copies per second.
Last time I was in an Ingles Supermarket, I saw a cash register that had apparently dropped out of the register software. I was surprised to see that the OS present was OS/2. It's still in use in the US too.

But while someone's getting him laid, why not get me laid too?:-)
It was ontopic at the time --- the editor forgot to close the tag when he posted the story. That has to do with the story, meaning it is ON TOPIC. I don't give a flying fsck how much of a stretch my claim is. It's technically correct, so STFU and mod me back up to 1.
It's up to George Lucas. If he jumps to digital without something like the CBDTPA, we're safe. He's driven Hollywood before and I think he can do it again.
Explain to me how being able to play console games well improves one's chances of procreation. My personal experience seems to dictate that the exact opposite is true --- being able to play console games better decreases one's chance of procreation.
I take it then that the dorms do not have any sort of internet connection. If they do and you're blocking the MUDs further upstream then shame on you. If they don't (the public machines are the only connected ones) then block away.
Why do we need all these fancy database tricks? Why doesn't Microsoft just redefine the NTFS spec to support 512-character file names? Why don't people simply use nice, descriptive names when they're naming the files? As far as full-content searching goes, who needs it? If you name a file well, then odds are that you can do a pretty fscking good job guessing or remembering what's in it.
Yes, I know this might get hit as flamebait, but do give my questions some serious thought first. Please.
I don't understand why SEARCHING is so important. Just be organized and you don't NEED to search. I micromanage and custom organize every aspect of my HDD and as a result I know where eveything is. I don't NEED any fancy searching tools.
Brilliant Digital's Altnet (sp?).
Need I say more?
This is a repeat. It hasn't been more than a month since this was last on Slashdot.

I think he's making a joke that Microsoft has fixed more bugs than any OSS project simply because they had more to fix.

Oh, and by the way, I'm in a bad mood.
Correction: That last should be *returns to TI-GCC* instead of *disappears into darkness*. I'm sorry for any confusion this might have caused.
TI-89.....
*thinks*
*laughs evily*
*disappears into darkness*
The only way either of those would happen involves 2 countries eventually glowing in the dark, if you get my drift.
Italics are busted again.
What file format would they use?
Ogg Vorbis? MP3? Wave?

Microsoft already allows you to turn double clicking off in Windows Explorer. It's been there since Active Desktop was made available for Windows 95.
I know it's overused, but hey it's valid.

So you're advocating developing an e-mail version of the Slashdot Effect?
Sounds good. Let's do it.
Macrovision????
Nooooooooo!!!!
Copy-protected eyes! The MPAA has gone too far. I don't want to pay to have to descramble my own vision.

I actually sleep BETTER when my PC is on. I have a harder time going to sleep when the room is too quiet.
Did the OS/2 subsystem for Windows NT/2000/XP have any role in killing OS/2?

Instead of having to right click and choose properties and choose the tab and look, how about simply renaming the file?
