    You're probably thinking of KiloBYTES per second, as opposed to kiloBITS per second.

    30KB (The uppercase means BYTES) is actually 256kb (The lowercase means bits), which is twice as fast ast the 128kb they're talking about.

    It's a pretty common mistake, though.

    I understand your point, but if the difference in reliability wasn't massively signifigant, and the cost much lower by gigabyte, it would still be a more appealing backup method. A lot like the users espousing a disk-based backup method.

    Personally, I do my backups on CD-R. It's slow, but it works, and if you get good media, they'll last plenty long. (eg Verbatim Datalife)

    Easier backups from higher capacity might make it more desirable than other less, "error prone" methods.

    I know it's a bit late, but I feel compelled to comment. I was at the LAN where these laptops were, and they were pretty decent. I mean, the Dell XPS outperforms my machine by a small margian, and the voodoo looks sweet.

    That said, they played the games smooth, but my thinkpad 390e is going to have to be enough for now.

    I personally haven't veiwed the code, but I've seen a couple "reveiws" of the code by academics and those who snagged a copy on the last leak, and from what I understand, it's actually suprisingly well written and commented.

    I'm not sure if that would hold true for a computer program, though. It is, afterall, doing what it was told to do, even if that might not be the desired result. It's not like a tire exploding.

    Ok, I understand your angle, but someone going around and saying that I had gotten them pregnant was only a small worry; I was more frightened by the concept of actually getting someone pregnant, not only becuase I despise children, but because I wouldn't be able to support one.

    I am avoiding such problems by abstaining from sexual relations until such time that I find someone I care more about.

    Yes indeed. Didn't want to deal with the hassles in high school after the first girl I even came close with decided to go around telling people I got her pregnant (despite the fact that we didn't have sex)
