Umm *LOTS* of cameras have IR filters.

In fact there are several websites devoted to removing the IR filter from a webcam so it can be used as a "night vision" camera.

For example. Hell, here's a article about it.

Yes you can still see the IR from a remote control in cameras with the filter, but try it with the filter removed.

And if you'd RTFA or even just the blurb here you'd know that it finds cameras with IR but blinds them with visible light.

(sorry I can't cite, don't recall) Of course I don't think blowing up the towers was the answer, but did it ever cross your mind that if we just stayed out of their business they'd stop blowing our shit up? They can't kill more of our troops if our troops aren't on that side of the globe either! The events on 911 were in reaction to US foreign policy. 22. Numbers, and points to ponder on Russia's Biggest Spammer Brutally Murdered · · Score: 5, Interesting

I seriously doubt this guy was killed just for spamming, but let's assume he was for discussion. While on the surface it may seem that the punishment (death) far exceeds the crime (spamming) let's do a little math.

Say I spend 10 seconds managing my spam every 2-3 days. That's 28 seconds a week. No big deal right?

Say I've been doing it for the last 5 years and will continue to for the next 55.

    (5 + 55) * 52 weeks * 28 seconds a week = 87,360 seconds (24.266~ hours). Still not that bad, just one day.

Someone who lives 80 years only gets 700,800 hours to live.

That means spammers only have to annoy 28,879 people ( 700,800 / 24.266~ = 28,879 ) before they've wasted an entire (long) human lifetime worth of time. Now I know it's a bit of a stretch to equate a human lifetime worth of time to the life of an actual human being, but I begin to wonder. My time is very valuable to me and I'd rather not waste a single second of it deleting unwanted advertisements from my inbox.

But let's take it a little further. According to this there are 6,454,864,470 people on earth at the time of this writing. Say spammers only annoy 5% of them (a low estimate I would guess) for their entire lives. That's still 322,743,223 people who lost a day's time to spam.

    24.266 hours per person * 322,743,223 people = 7831902223.6 hours wasted.

    That's 11,175.66 human lifetimes!

If you want to equate those to actual deaths here are some comparisons:

"British Medial Journal indicating that passive smoking kills over 11,000 people in UK." (http://www.sdlp.ie/pr2march2005.shtm).

"To take prostate cancer as an example, although it kills over 11,000 men a year..." (http://www.icr.ac.uk/press/releases/cancerchip.ht ml)

"Gun violence kills over 11,000 Americans every year..." (http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2002/11 /08/opinion/6293.shtml)

These were extremely low estimates, the world's population is growing, and the amount of spam is growing.

Still think the punishment didn't fit the crime? I'm not sure anymore myself.

I think you almost hit the mark. I can only speak for myself (and perhaps throw myself to the wolves in the process) but I find I'm not particularly attracted to females that are drastically different from Anglo-Saxon. I can look at a beautiful say.....black woman and see that she is indeed beautiful. But I'm not usually attracted to her. It's like looking at a fine work of art or other thing of beauty that doesn't inspire primal urges. I can appreciate her beauty without my baser instincts firing to say "ATTEMPT TO MATE!"

Don't get me wrong, I'm not racist. In fact in moving to VA I find the higher percentage of non-white folks refreshing and believe that interracial breeding will generally make better humans.

Just like "pure bred" dogs typically have horribly high tendencies to have breed-specific problems whereas mutts whose component breeds aren't even discernible live much longer and healthier. This coming from a guy who grew up in areas with lots of "pure bred" humans. *shudder*

However, in closing I wouldn't say racism is speciation. Racism is irrational, ignorant, stupid dislike of other races. Speciation is more what I'm talking about. How some people aren't attracted to other races may cause it among humans.
