Everything has a cost. Even breathing clean air has a cost.
I got a another good idea for you... Why don't we just tax the air we breathe? Imagine the trillions the government can make to support the failing U.S. Post Office.
But I got a better idea! We could always shut down the US Post Office and let Private Businesses take over such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. Then the government can tax them for all the snail mail.
I forget where I read this, but it still rings true. "When you sit down at the poker table, look around for the sucker. If you don't see one, it's you."
I know that it's a quote from the movie "Rounders".
There are still around. I have seen quite few of them this week on Auto Repair Shops. I noted that the cheaper the soda can price ( Cheapest was $0.60 USD) the cheaper the quote. Most expensive was $0.90 USD
LOL! My thoughts exactly!
Here is the quote for those unfamiliar with the movie Taken:
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you."
I completely agree with you on this one. After all, universities are just businesses trying to maximize their profit.
On a side note, articles like this one remind me of the movie "Idiocracy" and where our nation is heading in the future.
Slashdot blows all of that away, changes it from spherical to triangle (not sure where that came from)
I am curious as well where they got triangle from. I kept staring at the image trying to look for that damn triangle and could not find it. I think I am sun blind now >.>
You will be surprised how many "major" cities in the USA have very poor public transportation systems. A self-driving car is the answer to these cities. Especially with an increasing amount of people using smart phones and driving during traffic.

... We have cake.
The Cake is a Lie

The point is who will buy from IBM's customers? 17K is good enough, only if living conditions are sub par.
Everyone buys food. Food retailers use IBM POS systems, IBM payroll systems, IBM stock control...
... Or move to India. I hear it's quite nice out there.
If you're buying laptops with that spec for $400, I'm sure we'd all love to know where.
Just wait a while... IBM might come out with their own Ultrabooks: http://developers.slashdot.org/story/12/11/29/1545245/in-a-symbolic-shift-ibms-india-workforce-likely-exceeds-that-in-us

Azure (the MS cloud) now supports Linux images. They probably want some attention for that.
Yeah, it appears that they do: http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-europe/schedule

You are correct sir. Article got my hopes up for a bit :/
I guess they weren't smarter than the average bear.
But it's all three combined in one: Pi Day, Hump Day, and Steak & BJ Day.

Probable robot response: " I do not understand. Will you please teach me how to 'Shut up floors'?"
30 years ago no one had cell phones... things havent gotten THAT much more important in 30 years
I agree, but then again 30 years ago you could easily find a payphone.

Is just a new weapon that the US doesn't have... YET.
