The computer modification sub-culture works on mass email news notification to get it's news content on a daily basis. There's a crew of web monkeys that recieve all the email submitted to there news mailing address, decide what's fit, and post about it on there site. [H]ard|OCP is one of the forefathers when it comes to this, and even the modification scene.
Even the guys at Virtual-hideout.net, who got slashdotted a good while back, respect the guys at [H] but have you seen a posting mentioning [H]? No, I'm damn certain you haven't.
I hope you people will take a moment to go visit [H] and give them a little of the recognition they deserve. Scroll down and I'm damn well sure you'll see there linkage to this exact same article. Hell [H] will be so brave as to give you an idea of the content instead of some fuck-wad Slashdot poster who is too fucking blind to give a damn about any thing aside from sucking bill gates cock, I mean, Windows. Or Linux, but really, how many of you here today are running linux? I'm not, I've been there, enjoyed my visit and I may come back to it later on.

And yes this is a bit of a rant, please I mean no offense to any bill gate cock sucking Slashdot'ers or the Linux warriors/etc. I've been up far to long.

Exactly. There's no need to store the information of what each move is, just to know how many moves total.
I'd like you to prove to me that there are more possible moves in a single game of chess then particles in the universe. I don't know how you would do that aside from counting each one, top to bottom.
There isn't an infinite ammount of pieces, so there can't be an infinite number of moves, there has got to be an end some place, where there is nothing left but a pair of kings on the simple devisions of a chess board.

  16. Chess. on RC5-64 Project Teeters At The Halfway Mark · · Score: 1

What I'd like to see, is a d.net project to determine the maximum possible moves in a chess game. I could probably make up some excuse as to how it would be beneficial, but I'm certain a majority of the readers here would divert to, "That's stupid, Run Seti@Home!/Find the cure for cancer!/Crack 64Bit encryption/Find optical golumb rulers!/Run your mom!"
I'm also certain that someone out there, or perhaps some organization, could benefit from knowing. There are a number of chess geeks out there into computerized chess, my self included.
In recent BBC Sci/Tech they even mentioned chess as a college level course of study. They keyed in mostly on Kasparov and if he would be a professor. I find that interesting in and of it's self.
Here's where I wish I had some coding ability. I would be more then happy to donate my time to create a client to calculate it, but being the lamer I am, I can only hope. hehe.
Does any one else out there wonder how many legal moves there are in all possability?

Hell, maybe just so people can rent it for a day and drop a mother load of blocks on there dnet stats as someone mentioned earlier...

The ability to handle snow, and sand alone would be a major benefit to electric wheelchair users. And at a max speed of about 7-8mph I sure as hell aren't going to come close to the 40+ mph mark.
Any one got a set of these and the facilities to make me a pair of smaller ones? ;) I'm fairly certain the transition to these could be made without much hassle, the seating position would need to be realigned due to the height increase in the back.
The last thing I haven't figured out is wether or not there would be a loss of power (a gain perhaps?) Who know's. I'd love to be able to actually cruize a beach, Hey lady's you want a ride?

I've got some what of the same project in mind, sans VCD and DVD. I'm trying to find ways to build a computer capable for recording hours of audio onto my wheelchair, yes I am disabled. But enough of my little details.

I would say, build it your self or have it built. Easy to say I know, but the options are limited and building/having a housing unit built to custom specs can be an advantedge. Go visit your local machine shop, or some place that deals with metal sheeting etc. I'm sure between the two of you, you can plan something out. A while back slashdot mentioned an Athlon system built to fit in a backpack, the Athlon part wasn't to fascinating, but he custom built the casing and found some interesting components, mainly the PSU.

Go check out plycon.com, in there Keyboard section they have a mini-86 key keyboard that includes 2 button trackball, It's also IR based. Perfect eh? Tell Tony Night0wl sent ya, I need more brownie points with the guy. :)

Components are up to you however. Only thing I would really mention is to be sure your HD is quiet. I can deal with the consistant hum of a fan, but the grinding of a bad harddrive can get on your nerves.

I wouldn't eliminate a fan my self, there are fans out there with excellent CFM / dB ratios out there. Panaflo's come to mind, available at Plycon.com, caseetc.com, and I do believe pcmods.com

Interface I'm not certain of, someone else will need to supply ideas there. :) Did I miss any thing?
