    so when I run "sudo apt-get update" i'm doing it wrong?
    If I don't run "apt-get update" as root it doesn't work. Does that mean Debian has been doing it wrong for two decades?

    No, when they bought the DVD they bought two copies, a downloadable one and a physical one.

    There's no other way to interpret it. Once you use the code, you can't give it to someone else when you give them the DVD. It's a separate copy.

  6. I'm not surprised about the time to repair. They don't even have production capacity for regular sales and are woefully behind schedule for all their current offerings.
    I wouldn't be surprised if they have a backlog producing spare parts.

    They don't sell these repaired cars at full price, they're sold as used cars.
    Right now I could buy a Model X 75D for $NZ124,400 with 11,695km used or a new 75D for $150,645 with fewer options (which for some reason I can't select all the upgrades the used one comes with, like the "towing package" or "smart air suspension" or "carbon fibre upgrade")

    Thats.... a normal thing to do? It's not like they were claiming to be selling the used cars as new.

  8. They're not actually magic. They'll attenuate high frequency EMI, not remove it completely.
    They'll also be the first thing a cheap manufacturer cuts to save on BOM cost.

    Since I paid for Swype years many years ago but I stopped using it over a year ago as GBoard is now a better keyboard.

    It started to get annoying since they ashed Dragon with it. I don't want to talk to my phone. I don't want my phone to record sound when I accidentally touch a button I can't remove and send it to their servers. They made it impossible to get rid of the feature and it ended up wasting space on the keyboard.

    If the common mode choke on the input isn't enough to stop the EMI, it will go straight through. They're generally only big enough to stop the power supply itself from causing too much conducted EMI.

    I already do that with Android Pay. Have done for a few years now.

    It doesn't know when they blocking even is going to finish. Sure, it'll get an interrupt from the DMA controller when DMA request is complete after instructing the SATA controller to fetch some data.
    The problem is, changing the clock frequency takes time.
    The system doesn't know how much processing the application is going to do before another blocking event happens either. It needs to make a compromise between keeping the current low speed clock and doing the work or increasing the the core voltage, waiting for that to stabilise, increasing the clock multiplier, waiting for the PLL to stabilise, then do the work.

    It may only be in the order of a few microseconds to change clock speeds, but that's thousands of cycles when you're talking about GHz speeds.

    Or you could keep the core at full voltage and speed and waste a lot of power, but gain those lost microseconds.

    It's up to your operator if they populate that information on the sim card.

    If they want to they can update it remotely.

    GMail is a system app on a lot (if not all?) of phones, it can't be removed. At best it can have its updates removed and be disabled.

    Installing Gmail Go will only end up using even more storage space.

    You forgot a few things.
    Depending where you are on the surface of Earth, you travel up to 40,075km every day.
    There's also the orbit our solar system takes around our galaxy and the movement of our galaxy in the universe.

    You also forgot this is a record from Earth, so none of that matters.
