Well.. While we are making stupid claims... How about Obama's trips to the Med, where he and his wife took separate aircraft and a boat load of friends? And what makes you think protecting the president in FL is all that much more expensive than having him at the White House? It's not like they don't have SS staff in both places at this point...
Why? Are we being invaded by little green men from Mars again? Are they taking our jobs and using public services but not paying taxes? I though H.G. Wells finished them off during the "War of the Worlds" or did I miss something....
Defense is a constitutional requirement for the Federal government... IE it's a necessary function the Federal government as to do.
NASA is an optional "nice if we can" thing to fund.... Not to mention that if we don't spend enough on defense, there will be no country and no Federal government to fund NASA, welfare or social security and all those other things folks depend on...
Now stop your griping about the disparity between NASA's funding and defense funding...
Primary liability for a robot's actions are with the owner... Case closed....
Now, the owner may have a liability claim with the maintainer, installer and/or manufacturer should the robot not function as designed, but that's another case.
If sports don't make money, they are easy to get rid of, ditto the administrative salary problem... My state hasn't cut funding....Well, not that much.
Traveling to PRNK is nothing like the USA, you will be free to take pictures in most locations, we won't have "minders" with you 24/7 making sure you don't drift off the authorized path... We don't kill you for crossing the border illegally..
I don't consider all the stories BS, but I do consider the reporting of them to be over blown. (your complaint is a case study in that actually, comparing the USA to North Korea is a way into hysteria you know.)
Consider the security situation from the USA's perspective and you might just figure out WHY border searches are being done with more frequency and to more depth, but we are not even close to North Korea. Truly, Laptop passwords shouldn't be an issue if you do international security precautions like you should anyway (i.e. have nothing on your laptop to start with), same with smartphone. When I travel abroad, I figure that the host country is entitled to inspect me and my stuff as they see fit, put what ever restrictions they desire upon my travel within their country and it's not my place to complain. It's their country, so it's their rules, and IF I cannot see my way clear to live within those rules, I don't go. If I choose to go, I don't complain about complying with the local rules.
I suggest two things.. 1. You are making more out of this than their really is.. 2. IF you don't like the rules, you don't need to come here.. And don't give me some sob story about it being your job because what that is saying to me is you are being PAID to endure all this pain you claim, which makes it doubly shallow if you ask me.
Well, if you are not from 6-7 countries, things really haven't changed all that much.. Even then, currently there is no difference despite what the news is telling you.
Your emails have cost us yet again. Everything that's gone wrong for over a year has been ALL HILLARY'S FAULT!
E-mails where the least of her failures.. Remember, she lost the election to Donald Trump of all people... She lost to a guy who had never run for ANY public office before.... She lost to an opponent even though she had significantly more money. She lost, even though she didn't have a serious primary challenge and had the nomination sewed up long before her opponent. She lost even to a guy who said the stuff on that Access Hollywood tape that came out as a great October Surprise. She lost to a guy who got into stupid twitter fights though out the whole campaign. She lost the election yet won the popular vote because she campaigned in the wrong places... Hillary was horrible as a candidate...
Even more, this isn't the first time she lost to a novice, trying to be president, she lost in 2008 to a freshman Senator......
Now that's not fair. Cisco goes to great lengths to make sure the users know to TURN OFF TELNET. It's been in their documentation for decades. It's one of the first things you learn in CCNA training.
Now, how do you suppose one would configure a cisco switch from bare metal w/o special hardware if they didn't do this?
Those in glass houses should not do target practice with a sling shot in the hose unless they expect to break glass....
OR...
Those who drive though nails should expect to get flat tires...
If you do stupid things, you get what is coming to you.
Cisco has warned users for decade NOT to use telnet, just like they have warned users to change the default username and password (cisco/cisco). If you don't get the message or insist on being stupid, you get what's coming to you.
That a gallon of milk will run you about $20 and a tank of gas is $500...
BTW, College tuition is only really going wacko because the government stepped in and made student loans so easy to get. I know of folks a decade ago who were borrowing money to go to school taking the maximum allowed while living at home. They blew all the extra money on lavish vacations and other junk and are now, faced with a mountain of unnecessary debt for college degrees of minimal value. Criminal justice and business administration just doesn't pay that well. Making college money easy to get makes tuition go up, but it doesn't always make people better educated.
No, some of it is released into the local stream where it flows into a river where some city's water intake is located. It is treated and pumped into a potable water system.
Not all that returns is potable... It NEVER was potable, even before we started raising cattle.. Besides, the biggest polluter is located in those cities and towns most of you live in...
Pigs are extremely intelligent and make excellent pets, and when they die, you don't have to bury them and waste space like with a dog, you can have a BBQ.
Yuck. Have you ever tasted what old boar tastes like? You have to over power it with BBQ sauce or I simply cannot get it down myself.
I work in a huge cube farm with low walls. I can literally see 50+ people sitting in their offices while I sit in mine. The ONLY way I can work is with my over the ear, noise blocking headphones... It's either that or I am forever getting distracted by multiple conversations, loud typists and an argument or two. At least they banned personal audio equipment unless it plays though headphones and nobody is allowed speakers for their computers (Not that you'd have room for them on the tiny desks they gave me)....
But, if noise is the worse thing about your job (like it is for me) count yourself lucky (and I do).
Money talks and they only listen to money out there on the left coast. Unfortunately they only listen to left coast money...
Which is why there has been a bunch of independent films making money for decades. If you want to make a movie that's not PC in it's story line, or has subject matter Hollywood doesn't like (even if it would do well in fly over country), your best bet is to avoid Hollywood.
Web developers who write javascript that just keeps chewing up resources are why we have to resort to this.... You have no one to blame but yourselves for abusing the privilege of having active content that just sucks resources to get more add revenue....
I know some of you developers actually think about such stuff and care about the end user's experience, but there are a few of you out there that are messing stuff up for all of us, so now the browser has to throttle you.. Thank You for nothing (from the rest of us).
So kids that only see Netflix don't know about commercials.... Let me guess, they don't know about rotary dial phones, phonograph records or cassette tapes either because they've never see them..
What a surprise.. I think I'm going to have a heart attack and die from THAT surprise...
PBS may not have ads during their shows, but they DO have advertisements. They play a lot of ads actually between shows and all the entities that donated to support the shows in the opening and closing credits.. It may get some of it's support from the government, but it still runs advertisements of sorts.
Many believe that Unions have out lived their usefulness. We have labor laws, health and safety laws for the work place and the minimum wage, all things that Unions initially had to fight for, but now the government enforces these things at the federal and state level.
Personally, Unions have never done me any good, but my profession is not usually unionized anyway. That being said, I think they are of marginal utility and I'm not sure the good they manage is worth the political baggage they bring to the work place. In my view Unions have become obsessed with political power and have left their primary purpose of representing labor and negotiating for worker's interests with management. They have forsaken their original role and have parlayed their money from dues and influence on the membership's voting habits into political power.
I'm not advocating that unions be done away with, but I generally do not support them and would not want to work under one. Unfortunately for Unions, this is becoming the majority opinion and they have failed most of their efforts to unionize non-union shops over the last decade. So, it seems that they will be dying out to me.
Well.. While we are making stupid claims... How about Obama's trips to the Med, where he and his wife took separate aircraft and a boat load of friends? Money cannot buy happiness, but it helps...
Money cannot buy science.... But again it sure helps..
Couldn't get enough interns into the crew module for his tastes, so this is the next best thing.

To install Linux on that old laptop and be done with that vista thing once and for all... I feel better.

Not exactly. OTA Channels are there because the FCC mandates they be carried by your cable system. It's part of the rules that let them exist.
Well.. It's common where I work.. Maybe we have more security than your average place.. (Using password rules..)
Yet again, my point is made..
