The best thing about the article on LinuxToday (linked by the/. article) is that applauds (through the changelog) "Linus AND all the rest of the guys who made it happen."
Hopefully, after the ACCC sorts things out here with DVD zoning (recent/. article), then they'll move on to this also. However, despite this recent idea to attack the DVD zoning regulations, no action has been taking.
We must pray this Christmas season that free ideals in communication prevail, and not the inability to record Charles Dickins' A Christmas Carol at midday whilst you're having Christmas lunch so that the kids can watch it later.
Agreeing or disagreeing with other interresting points about social exposure and intellectual diversity, keep the child focussed (not necessarily on specifics).
Most of all, intellect and social charisma being important, so is social intellect. Ie. Keep him away from the grass and acid:)
"Some people say that acid gives you brain damage... What did you say??"
I'm absolutely sick of reading the same shit over and over in/.. Much of the dot is very good reading, and usually good discussion, but when the same shit appears twice?? Don't you read each other's posts??
My great uncle has his funeral today and I come home completely topped off the Scotch, and this is what I have to read!!!:)))
> "Tommy, I want you to go down to the store..."
> "And rob out the shopkeeper, Godfather?"
> "No you stupid idiot! I want you to close down our network and check for check for holes!"
> "But Godfather, we're encrypting all of our traffic...??"
And who's breaking the law here? The Mafioso, or the Feds??
My friend's father is a doctor and lecturer at UNSW in business and commerce. Being one of the first to get a 'top-of-the-line' Pentium 90Mhz -based system for all of his tax and business maintenance, was sadly disappointed to find that it had major-maths bugs (long before MMX).
Intel would only replace the CPU if you were affected under their terms. Luckily (and quite rightly) he was, and received a replacement, within a few months.
I do believe the fridge was one, the lawn mower and the hills hoist. None were patented locally??
Technology wise, PAL and BETA (yeah go one and knock these without understanding the _contrasts_ with their American counterparts), and also some fibre optic developments.
Can we see a pattern?? Is the Australian Government to blame for not supporting development industries??
Price up/down, go study economics.
Speaking of which, I'm sure that with all of the contributions of VMware's hefty price-tag (and in Australia US$100 => lots *grin*), that the speed of development and addition of enhancements will flow a lot quicker.
What are you doing to support this open-source project??
It's a shame that Australia's primary telecommunications company that owns the largest public cable and copper infrastructure has pricing plans that restrict download and upload speeds.
Optus with it's not-so-wide pipe had put in place an end-user agreement on incoming data on it's alleged non-restricted pricing plans.
With this new pipe to the US, will more leniency be allowed for download-heavy users?? I think not.

Thankyou to ALL CONTRIBUTORS!!

Ownership of a domain name is a very controversial issue.
Does ICANN own ICANN.org, or can I steal it now??
An experiment like this envelopes the ideals of anarchy, and goes further than free speech to free action.
It has relevance far beyond the fascination of root for those that don't have such access on a system.
So how would this GMO food affect people who eat generously. Say perhaps Ghandi?
And what would he have to say about it all? *grin*

Please explain what's wrong with this. Maybe you should read it again :)
They already have developed this sort technology; a long time ago in a galexy far, far away...
Dodonna > Only a precise hit will set up a chain reaction. The shaft is ray-shielded, so you'll have to use proton torpedoes.
Wedge > That's impossible, even for a computer.
Luke > It's not impossible. I used to bull's-eye womp rats in my T-sixteen back home. They're not much bigger than two meters.
Dodonna > Man your ships! And may the Force be with you!
