The only problem I have with this suggestion is the fact that I'd have to spend money on yet another system.:-) I already have a PS2 and a computer, I just want something... substantial. And 2D.
Actually, I'll tell you exactly what I want. A 2d, but completely graphically overhauled verion of Ultima V for my computer!! I wonder if my old Ultima V disks will work right under XP...
And, I should be fair -- the folks at www.popcap.com are doing an excellent job making some addictive 2D games, though they get old after a while.
Does anyone else miss 2D scrollers like Super Mario 3 or overhead adventure games like Gauntlet? I have grown so weary of 3D shooters, I wish somebody could offer a decent 2D game that engaged my brain.
Has this ever happened? I mean, I can see why it wouldn't happen as often as imprisonment of one person (stopping a corporation could presumably put innocent people out of work.)
Yep. I don't hate Microsoft, but I think they got off way too lightly on this. If some common joe had posted stickers all over New York for some demo CD he made, they'd put him in jail for vandalism.
That would rock if you could "arrest" corporations.:-)
Well, hold on now. Phil Collins wasn't a lame excuse for Peter Gabriel. Gabriel is a phenomenal, phenomenal talent, I would never argue against that. But don't sell Phil Collins short -- his was the voice on the hits, his voice and songwriting made them superstars.
And Phil Collins, also, is one of the best drummers I have ever heard, period! Even when he took over the vocals, he still played the drums on their albums -- have a listen, he's playing a triggered kit for sure, but it's him. Land of Confusion, enough said.
It is painfully obvious that about 1 out of every 10 posts here is well reasoned and presents evidence, and the other 9 are morons with wild misunderstandings or blatant anti-Microsoft rhetoric that can't stand on its own two legs. Bravo to those making claims and derisions without using the thought processes that logically connect A and B! Bravo I say!
The fact that you copy *any* given game, and play it for a few months and don't pay for it is unethical.
You offer no rational justification for your action, you simply don't want to pay for it because it's fun "for a few months" -- that is not a good reason to steal *anything*.
"News for nerds" -- you know what, if you're going to report the news, you should report in an unbiased fashion. I can't take a news outfit seriously when the reporters interject their two cents into every goddamn article.
"Oooh, Microsoft is evil, Linux Torvalds is the messiah, everything should be free, we should be allowed to h4x0r whatever we want because breaking and entering in cyberspace doesn't hurt anybody! Go anarchy!"
It's painfully obvious that the "reporters" here (who somehow get paid to filter all of the crap that puts Linux, GPL, hacking, etc. into positive light and anything that Microsoft creates, or any project that makes money, into a negative light) have an extreme bias, to the point that the news you are getting on this site is basically propaganda for some stupid agenda.
I can't possibly be the only person that gets annoyed visiting this site, can I??
So if you produce a movie on your computer with the intent to market and release it, and someone copies it and distributes it, you think you wouldn't lose money from that?
A good move, especially considering that the barrier for entry to that industry is so insanely high that only Microsoft would dare attempt it.
With that said, how much do you want to bet that Microsoft tries to buy one of them?
Prince of Persia was a scroller that was pretty innovative; somewhat realistic graphics and gameplay, and you really had to use your brain.
And if you're talking about derivative, look at 99% of the 3D shooters out there...!!!
NetHack... Zork... wistful.

I've heard that in the sequel, Vin Diesel hooks a supercharger up to his case fan on his laptop.

Sex Pistols are great, but goddamn do I love Phil Collins. In the air tonight is a powerful, emotional song, buried in urban legend...
Whoa, sorry, didn't mean to get all American Psycho there.
The only important thing that you all need to realize, is dammit, we need more episodes of Sealab 2021 and Harvey Birdman: Attorney-At-Law!!!!!!!
Bloated AIM client + Bloated ICQ client = 20 MB executable. Greeeat.
If you say so. Mozilla is bloated, slow, and sucks. IE is rockin' it's weak ass.

Evidence please.
...and since Mozilla blows right now, this war will be fought well into my old age.

In theory, you should be allowed to make backup copies of your own games, since you paid for them.
In practice, most people will run illegally copied games, because most people are dishonest fucks.
Even if we got on-the-level articles, slashdot wouldn't try to evenly present what happened that night...
I use cleartype on my CRT... took a day to get used to but it looks way better, in my opinion, than "standard" font-smoothing.
Amazing the kind of shit people get paid for.

It's easy to make the web accessible to the disabled -- have them hire someone that is able to use the web to do it for them.
"Usually dry reporting" -- a.k.a. objective. CNN is a news organization, and as such they are obligated to present the facts in an objective manner.
This article, however, is known as an "editorial."
