It seems that a lot of geeks have this notion that AOL is for idiots. But c'mon, you shouldn't have to know how to program a computer if all you want to do is read some news, e-mail some friends and play some games.
Just because you own a computer doesn't mean you should know how to program it. (I'd bet 90% of Slashdot users have a car, but only 5% of them could do something like transmission or engine repair on their own.)
There's a million problems in the world that people with this amount of intelligence could be solving, and instead they're making cell phones play music.
Yes, obviously douchebag, since every post is anti-IE and pro-anything but, there is obviously argument going on. It happens every time someone mentions the word browser. And I'm sick of it. Te browser war is over, everybody should just shut the hell up. IE renders fast, works well, what is the problem? Oh jeez because MICROSOFT made it it's evil? Big fucking deal. Hey so you think I'm a troll, why don't you blow me.
Ultimately, who gives a fuck? This browser argument is the same as people arguing whether a Dodge Viper or a Ferrari is better. You can come up with pluses and minuses on both sides, so shut up and cover some real news.
Actually, the Internet was designed for military purposes.
But it doesn't matter what it was designed for. It is there now for people to make money. If there wasn't money to be made, it would never have been opened to the public and commercial spheres.
Mozilla/IE remember passwords already, what kind of "product" is this?
It's a FEATURE, one that you can TURN OFF! A user may not want to enter their password to a particular site if they're the only one using their computer and they visit the site three times a day. What's the problem with voluntarily storing your password?
You're going to get advertised to, so get used to it. Users keep coming up with ways to block ads, advertisers find ways to get around it. The Internet is there for people to make money. It's time everyone just accepted this and quit bitching about it -- you can't get something for nothing.
It is really human nature, and is entirely fair enough. I hope it works too: the community does need a half way point between doing open source for the fun of it, and writing closed source for money.
I agree; I can't believe I see so many pro-open-source people get all huffy when somebody actually tries to (gasp!) make money off of software. People need to make a living, and you can't do it by giving everything away -- especially when you're spending time that could otherwise be spent at a "real job".
Has it occurred to you that any intended impartiality (and thus quality) of education is immediately placed at risk when the interests of a third-party are involved?
Wow, I guess if we show ads on screen savers we'll never find out about those hideous aborted fetus experiments in the Pepsi Labs...
You can only do that if you're transmitting data that's copyrighted by you via that channel. So perhaps if you upload your biography every time you download MP3's from an FTP site... they'll still be able to sue you, but you can sue them too, and be able to use their suit as evidence.
What are you talking about? Who would sue who? You can't sue somebody for something YOU uploaded to them.
I have a Toshiba Portege 3480CT... the thing is thinner and lighter than a textbook. You have to attach everything via USB (floppy, CD, etc.) but in general you don't *need* those things attached all the time, so it's super lightweight and portable. I get about 2.5 to 3 hours of battery life, and the display looks incredible. Highly recommended.
JPG is good for natural looking things (like photographs) but if you've got an image like a logo or something that is mostly one or two colors you're better off going with GIF as the file size will be closer. Not to mention that JPG is lossy the more you compress it (which is why it is bad for logos and stuff if you're trying to be nice to people on modems.)
It doesn't say what Blender is *anywhere* on their stupid website. That is very, very bad site design.
Is this akin to the compression they use for cell phone signals (which makes listening to someone's radio over a cell phone so crappy)?

Which country are you from where everything is so great?

This technology was used on the H.D. Stealth Stinger bike in issue #2 of Punisher 2002... does that count as prior art?
How old is your car though? If it costs more than the car to replace the AC, chances are the car is beyond its expected life usage...
they sued the WWE over some fucking letters (that, I might add, they had been using for over 20 years)... I hope their panda drops dead
How so?

0% luck. 100% skill. All strategy. Need I say more?

GANG BANG!!!

Shameless plug time:
drexHELL.com
drexHELL shirts, bags, etc. courtesy of cafepress!
And I'll get drexelgirls.com working soon enough...
Twas a joke; I can't take anything anyone posts on slashdot seriously. :-)
Wow, I guess if we show ads on screen savers we'll never find out about those hideous aborted fetus experiments in the Pepsi Labs...
Does the phrase "use only as directed" ring a bell? Like, on your medicine bottles?
All the things we bitch about on Slashdot seem like nothing today.
