eh, come on now why such a hard line? I mean I understand what you're talking about in theory but in practice cops are people too and sometimes they just want to know basic information if we treat them like enemies like this they will treat us like enemies
I suppose since you're talking about your children I can respect what you're trying to tell them since they may not have the cognitive capacity to tell if the police are manipulating them however I've also heard people say here " never talk to the cops ever ever ever always ask for a lawyer" it's not like every single time a police officer opens his mouth he's trying to manipulate you there were two police officers at a community meeting today I attended and I almost asked him a question but someone else asked it before me
Parents are 100% responsible for every decision a child ever makes in their entire life because reality never throws situations at people that changes the circumstances.
You know this reminds me a lot of STD's. AIDS and the really horrible ones more specifically. Some people walk around fucking whatever they want without even thinking of protection because "FUCK IT YOLO MY BODY".
Iirc there have been some prosecutions against people who knowly spread AIDS to other people, you would think it would be possible to charge these Anti-Vaxers in a similar fashion.
Of course our first reaction is "thanks god they caught one of these little shits" people who SWAT other people and allegedly multiple times need to be punished if the story is accurate I don't think any of us are at fault for wanting someone doing this to be facing actually accountable for their actions in Real Life(tm)
I try to be pleasent to officers in the USA too, try to nod at them as the drive by. But in real life abn officer is much more intimidating for me knowing that they have a gun and the authority to kill me and any other potential threats if they feel the need I know that most of the time that won't be necessary but it's still concerning.
Unfortunately a lot of people around my age(29) and mostly younger youth view the police as the enemy and scum and you even have people here on Slashdot saying never ever talk to the police without a lawyer like its impossible to have a polite conversation with them because they are somehow not a human being. That is far from the case they are just people like you and me but this US versus THEM mentality has been growing for a while here and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

You can buy an animal for a family, or help buy an animal, so they can sell what it makes for self-sufficiency.
Ie you can buy some poor family a chicken, and they are taught how to take care of the animal so they can sell it's eggs.
Buy a cow and sell it's milk, etc.
