You know this reminds me of the "End of Apple?" stories that were all the rage back in the late 80's. It is true that the Mac is not 100% safe from viruses (the only way to make it so would be to keep it disconnected from all outside influences), but it does do a good job at staying virus free.
I see these pronouncements as propaganda from virus software companies that are trying to tap a new market. If these 'findings' were posted by actual news organizations and not reports handed to them by the very companies that want you to buy their software, I would not be as skeptical.
Come on folks, I think he's just trying to do better for his daughter. Whose to say that he can't approach this by saying "You know you have tapped me out... Let's play with this software program and become better players together".
If this is the case, then why spend the money to post your stories on your own site. I can see having a site that gives customers information about what they provide, but why post any news at all (even posting old news would work, because you just want your clients to see what you can produce).
Is it just me, or should we have an international body that handles all patents? That way when a patent is submitted it applies to all the countries involved and we won't have people like M$ patenting things in other countries just because they know they can't get it passed here.
I am by no means advocating that those that can't program start working on this project. I am only saying that just like Photoshop wouldn't be where it is today without it's dedicated programmers we can't expect this application to be at the same level. Especially since GIMP is at version what? 2 and Photoshop is at v 10 or 11.
Personally those that are complaining should put their money where their mouth is. Gimp is done by people who love to give back to the community. If you look at what has been done, it is an awesome project. If you don't like that it's not a Photoshop Killer, then pitch in and pay the salary of a couple of the GIMP programmers so they can dedicate their undivided attention to the project and I guarantee you that you'll get what you ask for. For where this product comes from, it is great. It shouldn't be looked at as a Photoshop replacement for professionals, but as a Photoshop replacement for those of us who can't afford Photoshop. Stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. If you don't like the product and don't want to contribute to make it better. Go buy Photoshop. Otherwise, get your hands dirty.
I can understand companies that don't want to pay for cellphone usage. Cellphones are devices that are often abused. Now that being said, I know that no company will chop their nose off to spite their face.
What concessions are they making? I know companies I have worked for in the past did not purchase cellphones, but they did allow you to reimburse all calls that were business related and a percentage of the service fee. Unless you just hate your job and want to look for something else, I would look at this alternative and see what your company is willing to do.
Our kids need us to be parents. They have tons of friends. They need to know that there is someone who is thinking what is best for them and setting rules to guide them.
Personally, I think children should not have computers in their rooms. All the literature we have read on studying and raising kids have told us not to do this. You need a location in the house that is conducive to studying and that is where the computers should be.
It also makes it a family experience, something to help the entire family bond more.
Take a room in your house (the family room or den) and convert it into a Study/Game area. That way you can ensure that your kids are doing what they should be doing and not being introduced to things that they are just not ready for.
No that is what I am saying. That protocols are not inherently secure. Applications such as Apache are not inherently secure.
But an OS that when it comes right out of the box has all these applications and protocols closed is.
So when setting up a Linux or Mac the first thing you need to do is make it less secure than it comes by default. A Windows machine, on the other hand, you need to make more secure. That's all I am saying.
I think we are correct in saying that Linux is more secure than Windows. When we are talking about just the operating system, then we can safely say that it is more secure. Of course as we add applications to any system that system becomes more vunerable.
It's just that Windows starts off vunerable and gets worse as we add more apps (ie, Web server, ftp server, etc.).
With all the stories coming out in the last few weeks about how MS Windows is so insecure (see this, this, and this), why would anyone in their right mind still use it?
I would disagree. I think those that are fans of a group will buy the album anyway. They are only getting new sales on people who wouldn't have purchased the album in the first place.
They say competition from Safari, but I believe the most important statement is "Some of the key customer requests for Web browsing on the Mac require close development between the browser and the OS, something to which only Apple has access," This is the argument that they made about their browser and their OS. What better way to bring credibility to their argument that stating that another OS will be better served with a browser that closely integrates with its OS.
I can't believe what I am reading.... People are actually saying that it's ok for me to pay $10 month for me to listen to music. I am sorry, I would rather "own the bits" so that I can listen to the same songs over and over and over again without having to pay a fee just to do so.
I will stick with the iTunes service. I can see it already, you can listen to your music as long as your paying for the service. Knowing MS, any CD you burn will self destruct if you cease being a member (that is if you are allowed to burn CDs without paying some additional fee).
Are they serious! This is hilarious. They start a campaign that talks about how bad linux is but they rely on linux to get the message out.
Check out what the site related to this campaign is running: We Have the Way Out Server.
Boy these guys just don't think.
I am sorry, but I wouldn't sign this even if it was for the commercial edition(s). I think these guys have gone unchecked for too long. It is time that we let them know that we won't put up with this any longer.
Just cause I pay for a piece of software doesn't mean that I lose all my rights. I can see that they need to ensure that their software is not being pirated, but this is not the way to go about it.

A little of their own medicine. As they say... What goes around comes around. Ain't Karma a bitch! :D

This is a nice try, but I actually think that the winner to this title is the table by the guys at Agiris.
http://www.agyris.net/v3/ugt/
This is by far the best table I have seen.
Is it just me, or should we have an international body that handles all patents? That way when a patent is submitted it applies to all the countries involved and we won't have people like M$ patenting things in other countries just because they know they can't get it passed here.
Why reinvent the wheel?

I definitely will get one of these.

at first I was stunned when I saw that it's up to version 2.8. But when I followed the link I saw the truth.
:-)
It's at version 0.28. Somebody put the decimal in the wrong place!
Oh well, am just glad that it's still going strong!

Just an FYI, If you look closely at the snapshots they are identical (almost) to the way Entourage looks (the Apple version of Outlook).
So in reality, they are not moving away from Outlook. They are just updating to keep up with it.

That was good!
