For me its inability for developers to offer trial versions of apps using the App store. I'm not going to pay more than a few bucks for something i cant try before i buy. Screenshots and reviews just dont cut it for me, so how about Apple allows developers to do x Day trials. I'm sure its possible!
If you read the results you'll find its actually asking anyone involved with the web really. This really annoys me coming from such a respected publication. The Job Title for example shows 25% are in fact developers, 19.9% are web designers and even includes writers/editors making up the other 55%. Without understanding which job titles correlate to all the other questions it seems a bit pointless. I know some of the biases compare the different titles but not many.
Speak for yourself, over here in the UK we have the vertical 2 row (upside down L) enter key. I think there should be various layouts to match the different standards around the world.

You've already decided to roll out an operating system that isn't finished or tested in your environment to 65,000 desktops? Thats a wise move... Whats your plan B?
I dont think you're getting the point here. Undesirable features and new bugs in new versions... that can happen to both. The point being raised was that if there's a bug fix on a web application its instantly applied to everyone using the application, with installed software it's not like that.

Me neither i'm beginning to think this is a mail.google.com thing for people in the UK. Do other people not get all these new features in gmail? This is a general problem with most web applications, you don't have a sense of which version youre using nor do you get the option to upgrade or not. Its in the hands of the gods! Until we have proper versions with user choice of upgrading you cant relly too much on it.
Disney has a great fun way to explore their theme parks in Florida. Pal Mickey is a little toy that vibrates and giggles as you walk past various hotspots dotted around the parks. You squeeze his tummy and he says something to keep kids interested in the likes of Epcots world showcase (a bit like a museum in places) or messages about queue lengths and show times. The interface is very simple and non intrusive, you can just ignore him if you are busy eating or something and he'll repeat his message up to 5 times if you squeeze him again within 20 seconds of him finishing his speech. He also has a variety of games and corny jokes to keep kids occupied whilst queuing. Very clever little device.

One thing never noted with amd processor reviews info on the fan it takes to cool them and the temperature they run at.
As far as i'm aware (correct me if im wrong) intel processors are running a lot cooler than the amd competing processors these days. Higher temperatures often translate to louder fans which can be a big disadvantage to those with sensitive ears.
Just as easy to setup? Have you tried installing postgresql on a windows box? Currently, the only solution they offer is by using Cygwin and there is no simple installation program. I eventually got it running but i would certainly not say it was as easy as mysql on a win32 platform. A lot of people i'm sure are turned away by this...
Remember that many developers like to use windows and dont have the money to set up a seperate box for running a database.
Adult Verification Systems do work like that in principal however the sites offered on these networks are nothing more than small galleries full of adverts and links to the big sites. Most of them actually require a minimum of say 30 images to be accepted and that's it!
The AVS offers the mechanism for password protecting the owners content and credit card processing. Some even supply free content to the sites joining up, hosting aswell! All they're doing is harvesting traffic at the end of the day.
The owners get cash for people reffered to the AVS from their site. The user gets access to the site they sign up to aswell as any others in the AVS. They basicly get screwed as the sites are nothing more than you can find on sites like the hun
I don't remember seeing this sort of service being offered for non adult sites although im sure it would be successful if packaged with other services.
Maybe he wants to learn about pgsql and alternatives to mysql? That would be healthy!
I myself with no experience of cygwin found it a pain in the ass to get postgres working on windows. There was no quick and easy howto on the postgres site at the time, im still unsure if a quick step by step guide exists today.
I'm sure this puts a lot of people off from initially trying out postgres. Mysql makes it a lot easier to check out on windows, simply run the installation program and its up and running.
A perfect example as to what it's like to have good competition in the market place. We have AMD and Intel thrashing it out ending in us getting what we deserve, a better product. The fact that we see two different vendors of processor in the high street is lovely.
Wouldn't things be great if we had a choice of operating systems in this way?
The patches total ~10mb, downloadable as 2 seperate files, one for excel and one for powerpoint. I can imagine those on 56k modems will be complaining about this.

Interesting. Similar Pages turns up pages from every domain, is that a feature you can turn off or modify?

What would you recommend for developing web applications on *nix then?

no, he actually meant 'themselves'. As long as you understand what he was trying to say. Whats the problem?
