I actually had a 486dx4/100 with a 180 day trial of NT 4.0 on it. Talk about slow. That sucker had 24 MB ram, and a fancard. The fancard was full-length 16-bit ISA and had I/O and 2 bitchin 60 mm fans on it. Truly ahead of its time. That box had VLBus Video card to boot!
In a newer article, Anandtech stated that Nvidia is taking steps to prevent this mod, and is disabling driver support for modded nforce chipsets. You need to have version 66.7x forceware drivers IIRC.
Great advice, but not enough emphasis on testing. Test, test, test. Given the distance you're dealing with, this could take a while. So be it. Test in the sun, test in the rain, test in the snow. I read another comment you wrote and you said climate control was a big concern, and I can't imagine a worse scenario for you than to not be able to control(or even monitor!) your greenhouses when it's raining out.
I hope that was a joke, but i'll bite. bittornado? or any of the plethora of BT clients? Bittornado offers much more config options than the standard BT client. I only remember using the official client for a few weeks, before switching to Bittornado(it was the Shad0w's experimental back then).
But you forget that HP is exporting all of these PC's to China, and will be subject to all of the tarriffs(sp?), shipping, etc. This can drive the price up quite a bit.
Why is everyone so worried about how long the prints will last? I'm no digital photographer, but if i were, I'd archive the source files to CD, tape, etc. You can always reprint the pictures from that and therefore not have to worry about how long the prints will last.

SLI is not scan line interleave anymore, it's scalable link interface. and it would help in his application.

His comment is self incriminating. He couldn't have known if the server was up or down if he wasn't trying to rtfa. I cry heresy!!!!!

Given the subject matter, I couldn't help but chuckle when I saw that. Perhaps you mean libel.

I can say from experience that this guy's done a pretty good job, and I've also written an 'installer'.
The 1337 use a hosts file.
Browser and OS independent.

they didnt even change the default layout. You can see the Google quicksearch in the upper right corner. Ah, the irony!
What a silly idea. Slashdot is and ad for Firefox.
Excellent point. It's also worth mentioning that Etree's got(SWAG) the largest legal BT portal on the 'net.
The board he specced out has integrated video.
