  1. T-Mobile on Netflix Adds 5.3 Million Subs In Q3, Beating Forecasts (variety.com) · · Score: 3, Informative

There is currently a T-Mobile promotion that pays for Netflix for their members. I wonder how many of those 5 million are coming from that.

  2. Re:Boycott Verizon on Verizon Is Killing Tumblr's Fight For Net Neutrality (theverge.com) · · Score: 3, Informative

I did exactly this about two weeks ago. I dropped Verizon as my family's mobile provider and joined T-mobile who is pro net neutrality. I encourage anyone who is their customer to do the same. They are truly an evil company. I've been very pleased with T-Mobile so far and should have made the switch a long time ago. Vote with your wallets. That's the only thing they understand.

  3. Interesting numbers on Grand Tour 'Most Illegally Downloaded TV Show In History' (theguardian.com) · · Score: 1

I haven't watched the show, even though I guess I could because I have Amazon Prime, It's interesting to me that 1.5 million downloaded the first episode and didn't want to download the second. Then almost 2 million more downloaded the first 2 episodes and didn't want to download the third. Is this version of the show much worse than the series that was so successful?

  6. Belief in science on 2016's First Batch of Anti-Science Education Bills Arrive In Oklahoma (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 4, Insightful

The great thing about science is that it doesn't care what you believe in. If you don't believe in gravity and jump off of a tall building, you will still splatter when you hit the ground. By the way, there is no such thing as anti-science, only pro-ignorance. Let's call it for what it really is.

Facebook and Twitter also use BitTorrent. http://arstechnica.com/busines...

  9. I'm sure that I would get flagged using that kind of logic. I don't download anything illegally, but I play Blizzard games. The Blizzard downloader uses BitTorrent. And it makes sense for them because it eases the pressure of millions of clients downloading when they can share the load between them. This is just laziness and greed on the part of the music industry.

  10. Re:Why is Uber better? Serious question. on How Uber Takes Over a City · · Score: 1

I used Uber for the first time while on vacation a few months ago. Up to this point, I was hesitant to use the service. I'm not sure why in hindsight, but my girlfriend insisted it was a good service. I was extremely impressed. We used it for four trips. We were picked up each time within five minutes by new, clean cars. The drivers were courteous and made pleasant conversation. In total I spent ~$25. So, yeah, I'm sold. It was much better experience and better value than any cab ride that I've ever had.

I had a similar experience with Verizon. Their bloatware essentially crippled the device. Even with a larger battery, I was lucky to get a half day out of it. I installed a minimalist custom mod and now battery life is 3-5 days, depending on use obviously.

Facebook is already using video ads in certain instances. I know, in some Facebook games, you can watch a video ad to receive extra lives or such. The obvious difference is that there is a trade. The user is receiving something in exchange for, at least, letting the video play. Doesn't stop them for switching tabs until the ad is over.
