And that's where SACD comes into play, eh? (For those not aware, SACD uses a 4.7 GB disc -- but for standard-length albums -- yielding much higher audio quality than ordinary CDs)

The Jargon File to the rescue :). In a nutshell, items that are capitalized have a connotation as being emphasized and self-evident. For instance, with Real Work, the author is trying to convey that he's talking about real work and nothing short of it.

  8. Spellchecker on mozilla.org Releases Mozilla 0.9.8 · · Score: 5, Informative

To save everyone some time in common questions and answers, there's a FAQ on Mozilla's spellchecker (or lack thereof).

However, there's a new development. As you may know, bug 56301 tracks the progress on the Mozilla spellchecker. And, for a while, progress had become stagnant. Then, David Einstein stepped up to the plate and started working on a spellchecker for Mozilla. His latest work is available at spellchecker.mozdev.org.

I feel that a spellchecker would bring much deserved respect to Mozilla, and I encourage you to lend a hand to David. Or, it would even help if you could vote for bug 56301 to show your support (of course, you'll need a free Bugzilla account to vote).

Is there an easy way to find this info? The last time I searched, I tried "company hierarchies", "company trees", and some others, but none of my searches turned up anything useful.

Though I'd be very interested in finding such a list, I find that -- in lieu of such a list -- it can be helpful to just check on the websites of the MegaCorps themselves (as they seem to be more than eager to list their subsidiary companies).

For instance, I've been boycotting Pillsbury ever since they sent cease-and-desist letters to universities and Sun Microsystems (among others) for using the term "bake off" to describe their protocol evaluation sessions.

But, it doesn't just end there. With a little checking, you can find out that General Mills owns Pillsbury. And, for a boycott to be effective, that meant that I needed to also boycott the rest of General Mills. So, for instance, that means no Yoplait, no Cheerios or Chex, no Betty Crocker or Bisquick, and no Jolly Green Giant, Old El Paso, or Progressive (among other brands). And, you know what? I've stuck with it -- to this day, I don't buy from Pillsbury, General Mills, or any of its subsidiaries.

For those not familiar with it, SACD is similar to (and competes with) DVD-Audio, as it uses much more storage space than an ordinary CD in order to garner higher quality (while still just a single disc).

By all accounts that I've read, SACD sounds significantly better than ordinary CDs, and better than DVD-Audio, even. So, I'm probably going to buy a combination DVD/SACD player within the next few months. Anyhow, has anyone heard any CES announcements on upcoming DVD/SACD players?
