Yeah, so that when they run out of oil,and have sapped us from all our money on oil, they'll bring that battery patent out of the basement, mass produce the things, and then suck money out of us using that.
Go to AudioGalaxy. Once you do, trust me, you'll just laugh that Napster is goin' down. I've converted many of my friends, all who say it's much better than Crapster.
What would they have to loose if they released the Windows source code? They don't have to give the OS away for free, and it's not like releasing the source will mean people will pirate it -- people already do that anyway.
And if part of the source license includes not being able to use the source in any product aside for one designed for Windows, then the Open Source Community can't use it because it would be visible.
Seems to me like they've got nothing to loose and everything to gain. I bet there are all kinds of Windows developers out there who would spend the time fixing Windows up.
The only reason I can think of that they'd hold it back is because there's something really bad they don't want anyone to see. (Anyone ever see that movie where a computer virus killed anyone who stared at their screen?;)
Sympatico block/s/ed all incoming mail from yahoo.com addresses. When I used their service there was all kinds of complaints on their news groups, and it didn't seem as though anything was being done about it. It might have had something to do with spam coming from yahoo.com, but I really couldn't confirm that.
A buddy of mine got himself a dvd player for christmas (JVC, maybe, can't remember.) The store salesman said that it didn't play CD-Rs, and when he read the manual, it also said CD-Rs were unsupported. However, just out of curiosity, he popped an audio CD-R in the dvd player, and to his surprise, it played.
I suspect that you'll see a lot of dvd players that say they don't support CD-Rs just because it's sort of a fikle media - the quality and playability of the CD may often depend on the quality of writable disc and the manufacturer of the CD burner. Due to such factors, dvd player manufacturers probably don't want to hear about problems relating to CD-Rs, and have to worry about feilding technical support for issues dealing with CD-Rs.
Let the "4C" do whatever they want, I'll just buy my harddrives elsewhere, ie: maxtor, seagate, and whole other bunch of manufacturers. It sounds like a waste of the 4C's time, really. They could make drives with copy protection and loose business, or they could make both drives, regular and copy protected, which is a waste of time and resources because no one will buy them.
Canada all the way, eh, hosers!
The Avro Arrow is something we can be proud of. That thing would stand up to some of the more recent fighter jets. And here's something to think about -- after the AA was cancelled, how many of our engineers and mechanics and what not went to work for NASA? Was it the Canadians who put the first man on the moon? Someone should tally up how many Canadians went to NASA to work on that.
You're right though, sarcastic remarks are counterproductive. However, I don't often make comments and I've spent a total of no more than 5 minutes on this thread of comments. But that wasted time is nothing in comparison to the hundreds of hours spent on those Diablo II accounts. Having been a regular gamer once upon a time, I can say I regret the wasted time spent on games. -- I have since become more productive.
This AC speaks the truth. I've found, through observation and some experience, that the worse you treat a woman, the more she'll like you and the better she'll treat you because she wants you to treat her better. Women prefer asshole men, it's a fact. Up until she has children; then she needs that warm, loving, caringness that plagues us so badly. Problem is, the assholes get in the door first, and make kids with the woman, and the woman is then stuck with the asshole to take care of the kids. It seems your only chance is to find a broken divorcee with kids, show 'em you care, and they'll be all over you like fudge on a sundae.
There are exceptions, of course, as to all rules. However, these exceptions I rarely witness. Your chances of finding yourself in an exceptional relationship are worse than your chances of being bit on the ass by a flying pig while being struck by lightning on a sunny day with a winning lottery ticket in your hand.
Anyone have the kernelnotes.org on one of their/. sidebars? They're severely behind over there. The versions need to be updated with fury. They're only at 2.2.16 for new stable, which is now at 2.2.18. And they only have 2.3.99 for new devel, which is at 2.4.0-prerelease as you can see in this/. post.
You mean no else has thought of this until now?? Yeah right, this isn't news. I have an old IBM PC750-P133 that dates back to about 1994. This box runs scsi devices, and its scsi cable has been rounded. It looks like IBM did this themselves too, otherwise the cable wouldn't have been able to fit in such a tight case.
Y'know, I've submitted better stories than this, and they weren't even that great. Kinda itches when stuff like this gets picked instead. This thing shoulda gone in with a set of quickies.
Forget bad yeilds and whatever else those people talk about in the manufacturing process. What about ram that becomes faulty just from extensive use and old age. Or even damage caused by the user.
I live in a residential area of a city of about 80,000 and I've got fibre within 100 meters. Shaw cable put fibre through our city for their @home service. Thing is, there's no fibre going in or out of the city, so my data goes from my cable line, to fibre, to the @home CO, then onto T1 lines and such. S'posed to get fibre running in/out of the city within 4 months, though.
Interesting.
I've been running Slackware for 3 years now, and I compile *ALL* the new software I get (that is, whatever I didn't install from the CD.) It works 100% of the time, and I'm not lying. 1 0 0 %.
The only reason I find instability on my Slack box is due to some lame hardware, which I have lots of. I'm pretty sure if I had some reliable hardware, my box would never crash.
As for the filesystem, my computers have survived countless power outages and have all come back without a problem - they just do whatever fdisk does (can't remember spcifically) if you don't unmount an FS properly.
Ever see a can of Sapporo Draft? It's a Japanese beer, and is very good. Their cans are aluminum, and ribbed. Because of the ribbing they are *very* difficult to crush.

Read the specs.. These aren't older PCs.

Go check your user preferences. You can select which authors to exclude from your view.
Actually, with digital cable you can get upwards of 500 channels.

Screw apt-get. FreeBSD's ports system owns. It'd be nice if someone would port the ports to Linux.. ie: Slackware.

hella no. I never said I was productive. I'm a self-proclaimed lazy bastard.
Now all those players can get back to reality and get a real life, maybe even a job. Maybe even do something productive.

I own a copy of that book. Havn't read it though.

I doubt it.. Don't patents expire after 20 years or so? ;)
We all have prior use!

I saw this at least a year ago. This is quickie material at most.
