Instead of the traditional CD-ROM, you have a vynil LP player, a cassette players instead of a disk drive and a round tube black & white zenith TV as the monitor. The keyboard is clickety clackety and mechanic, with round keys.
And the commercial is something like: "Easy to Use, easy as Hell" :)
These so called "hackers" can be so brilliant in technical areas yet naivé to the point of branding themselves with the label of "hacker" in a public contest...
I agree that from a corporative standpoint, it's not viable to refill cartridges (most of the time).
However, about explaining the users why their colors look off: If you can find a printing system where the colors don't look off when compared to the screen, please let us all know!:)))
However, I want to see not one, but eight IDE drives outperforming eight SCSI drives doing heavy I/O. That's the crux of the question for servers. For desktops, just go IDE and that's it.
This *could* be a valid business model. Think about it: Company X offers services for free in exchange for a few of your CPU cycles. The same client could be used for both distributed processing and, say, file downloads. Company X makes money by selling CPU power to third parties (your spare cycles) and you, the user, enjoy free service.
Unfortunately, KaZaa wants to do it *without* telling you. That's just unacceptable...
Also, if you think your privacy is worth $1B, just upgrade your key size:).

Chances are you'll get more spam not because you replied to spam (since most spammers have either invalid addresses or full mailboxes), but because of the natural (and ever-increasing) exposure of our email addresses.
It's been a looong time since I bought my last dead tree book.:)
I really cannot live without some sort of electronic version. Of course, closed standards are not acceptable. HTML is OK and a text version is very handy (vi + search).
Anyhow, it's a matter of personal preference. I'd definitely like to see more electronic matter.:)
I used to be a heavy Desqview (no the X version) user. Nice product for its time. When desqview came, the whole product line was dying anyway. Even if you don't use it, you can download for the X11 (Type 1) fonts. They work really well with X11.
In the old SIMCITY days, I always had problems with roads. Until one day, when I decided to make an entire city with railroads only. Worked wonderfully.:)
I was receiving an average of 15 spam mails A DAY! It was extremely annoying. I wrote myself a tool to authenticate (i.e. send an email back) to everyone that sends me an email and is unknown to me. The system is working pretty fine (after a lot of changes and refinements). If you want to check it, go to http://www.paganini.net/ask.
This solution is far from being perfect, but is being an acceptable workaround for my problem.
SDF is the "Simple Document Format". Unlike DocBook, SDF has very little markup and is able to produce HTML, PDF, PS and other formats. The only drawback is that is seems kind of "dead". The latest version dates from a while ago.
RealPlayer is one of the lamest products I've ever seen. The image quality is bad, not counting the sound. Also, there's this version nightmare where a stream will NEVER play, no matter what version you have.
On top of that their windoze product annoys you enough to classify it as nagware, specially with the impertinent 'agent' or whatever that will not leave your system tray alone.
RealNetworks should just plain die and disappear. They'd be doing a public service.
I want to see trade restrictions against China for instance. I want to see people complaining that they cannot buy plastic goods for $1 apiece in Wal-Mart or K-Mart because of the recording industry. Ukraine is easy. Let's see how it works out with China and the Suburban mothers writing complaint letters to their congressmen.
Two things:
As a 21 year old guy, you should have noticed the quoted around the word "hacker", denoting irony.
You're way too touchy for a 21 year old person. Truly sad.

I wish them luck.
Oh yeah, it's not productive at all! (but it makes you feel a lot better sometimes, doesn't it?) :)))
What makes you think it would work for programmers? Just because they make (far) less money? :)
Just being cynical! :)
:)

That's a good question.
I do have a few "stuck" pixels on my laptop screen. I wonder how long these LCDs/TFTs are going to last...

Yes! And finally, a perfect machine to run Microsoft Windows XP! :)))
:)))
I bet it comes with the "Windows XP Ready" sticker.

Hmmm...
What about a secondary *window* instead of a secondary monitor? With indexing and search capabilities?

DIGITAL CASSETE!

DIGITAL VYNIL!
and, finally...
DIGITAL GRAMOPHONE...

I wonder if this will be like Borland C V1.5 (or was it 1.0? I'm getting old anyways...):
main()
{
int a = 4 / 8;
printf("%d\n", a);
}
Result: 2
It's not a joke kiddos. It was a real bug, just like that.

Looks like it'll happen in real life now.
