I fixed this by enabling a second 'dev' profile on Firefox. No dev extensions (firebug, LiveHTTPHeaders, WebDeveloper, etc) are enabled in my normal profile. This speeds things up considerably.

Never, never, never base your purchase on this!
It is very common practice to modify screen settings to sell the preferred (ie larger profit) display.
If you have the time (and patience), you can sit there and tweak each individual display to see the 'best' picture each can achieve.
My father was diagnosed with Melanoma 3 weeks ago. He underwent surgery but it came back less than a week later. It's now inoperable. I don't know what his next steps are (I don't think he wants to talk to me about this).
Does anyone know how you can go about 'applying' to be in this test? I'm going to send him the article, but I was hoping to have more info.
Now, this part gets _really_ speculative. They saw the EBay market for the 360 (many 360s sold at $800+), so I bet they're going to try a very expensive US introduction. And, paradoxically, I think it will be completely rejected as 'too expensive' by the American consumer, even though the _exact same people_ would turn around and spend $800 for one on EBay. It's okay, you see, for the Average Joe to be rapacious and greedy, but when corporations do it, it's "wrong". And I'm not sure Sony will get that.
There a fairly simple logical argument to support this. My guess (not exactly the strongest opening for a logical argument, but oh well) is that most of those eBay'd xboxes were sold to parents who promised them to their kids for Christmas expecting to spend $400. Thos same parents would likely not make that promise if the PS3 starts at $500 or more.
God, I wish I still had the images and info for this one. Ah well.
Back in the 2600 days, companies were coming up with joystiqs made for specific best-selling games (to a greater extent than they do now at least). Suncom was one of these companies... and Track and Field was their target game.
Sadly, their product would end up making it all the way through design and development only to come to halt when marketing told them they couldn't sell it. Why, you may ask...
Now, some would say that the controller design was truly ingenious. You see, in TnF, the point was to move left and right very quickly, then sometimes hit the button. Suncom's design was simple and effective, a cylinder with a contact at the top and bottom (as left and right, respectively), a ball bearing inside the cylinder, and a button on the top. Simple.
It shouldn't be too difficult to imagine yourself using this innovative contraption. More specifically, imagine mom walking in on 10-year-old you using it.
Of course, maybe the controller was truly meant for Custer's Revenge instead?
I rely heavily on Yahoo Companion/Toolbar. And I have for several years now.
The most useful thing is the Bookmarks button. I can have my bookmarks in a simple drop-down on any machine I want.
Furthermore, I can access my Mail, Address Book, Calendar, and Notepad extremely easily all from within the bar. Along with 2-click/1-http-request away from adding/editing any of the above.
Finally, all of the info is cross-populated. That is, I can create a Contact and assign them a birthday and it will show up in my calendar. I tell Yahoo my favorite sports teams and the schedules/results show up on My.Yahoo.com and in my calendar. It's exceedingly easy to email (or evite!) anyone in my contact list individually or as a mailing list.
And I can do all of this via this one simple toolbar.
Basically, Yahoo is the one company that 'gets it' when it comes to PIM. So don't write this off as 'just a search bar.' It is sooooo much more.
So rare these days to laugh out loud in my office. Thanks!

Personally, the killer feature for me is the wireless connectivity. I'd be just as excited for a GBA-SP with this (and the souped up graphics capability).
That said, the main reason I will have to get one of these is Animal Crossing. No longer will I have to wait at home on Saturday nights! Now, I'll be able to whip out my DS in between songs at the club! Woohoo!:)
I thought CDs these days tend to get scratched more on the 'label' side? And that's only since a price-saving move was made to remove an extra protective layer in modern CD manufacturing. Is this (or will it be) cost-efficient enough to add the protection back in?
actually, looking at this picture, it looks like it'll be yet another proprietary headphone jack. Didn't Sony learn anything from the GBA-SP 'mistake'?
-DT exploit - generally, this sucks, but as Legion pointed out, it's not too difficult to defend against
-QB scrambles - Bah. This is not an exploit. This is users abusing the fact that some of the QBs scramble well (as it should be) and MANY users don't think to (or know how to) defend against it.
and most importantly
The Madden glitch is so subtle that you might not even know your opponent is doing it. That's what makes it so devious in my mind.
Last thanksgiving, I purchased one of the cheapy eMachines PCs for my mom. The mail-in rebate for the thing was $250.
Within two days, weird things started happenning to the machine (video glitches). I had mom (I live FAR , far away) take it back to Best Buy. They gladly exchanged it for a duplicate machine... all is happy... OR SO I'D THOUGHT.
Flash forward about 3 months and I get a letter from BB stating that my rebate was denied because the original product was returned. Wha?!
Well, turns out that the folks gave her a NEARLY identical machine at the store, and the rebate wasn't good on that model. No fucking way.
I spent a good 3 days talking to various folks at BB "Customer Service" (HA!) until I finally convinced then to honor the rebate. The only issue now... they need the ORIGINAL receipt from mom's exchange.
Well, due to other circumstances she couldn't get this to me for another few weeks, at which point I sent it in.
Wouldn't ya know, a few weeks later I received another mail that the rebate was declined because the FUCKING "MAIL-BY" date had passed.
And no amount of talking was going to make them budge on this. I don't know that I've EVER been so pissed.
Ah well, makes me feel a lot less guilty about the $400 worth of stuff I got from them and MSN several years back.:)

Wallace Shawn (aka Vizzini) played Mr. Incredible's boss in "The Incredibles." Hence the connection with the post's mention of the movie.
I believe I read a summary somewhere that debunked each of these. The only one I remember is your point 4.
The ground-point for the cable will be in the middle of the Pacific. Or a similar place completely devoid of our avian friends.

Not only that, but it is *not* compatible with multi-player GBA games.
I was really hoping to play those over the wireless connection. Ah well.

I would assume each game will have a small, plastic case. Just like the ones Gameboy games (used to?) ship with.
