Oh wait I don't live in either or those states. Oh well, no protection for me. My state can't even get the DNC list working right, so why should I ever expect them to even undertake soemthing like this and have it work.

    According to Dvdfile

"A Universal spokesperson has told us that consumers unhappy with the current version (widescreen only - the full frame edition is not affected) can call the Universal Studios Home Video Consumer Hotline at (888) 703-0010 to request an exchange. While repressed versions of discs 2 and 3 (disc 1 remains unaffected) won't be available until February, Universal will provide corrected versions to those who have already purchased the set. Consumers will need to send the discs back to Universal at their own expense. "

  5. Re:Speaking from experience on Salvaging Possessions from Smoke Damage? · · Score: 1

I forgot to mention that some losses due to fire are tax deductible from your federal income tax. Keep the receipts of the money you spend for repairing or replacing damaged property and for covering your living expenses. These receipts will be helpful in calculating the total loss for your yearly tax return. Check with your local Internal Revenue Service office for Publication 547 - TAX INFORMATION ON DISASTERS, CASUALTY LOSSES, AND THEFTS. A quick refund is possible if you file Form 1045 APPLICATION FOR TENTATIVE REFUND.

If you are insured, document all posessions that were effected by the fire. Make a list and take lots of pictures. A description of loss of 1000 books doesn't always convey what a picture of those books layed out in the front lawn in front of the burned house does.

  6. Speaking from experience on Salvaging Possessions from Smoke Damage? · · Score: 1

Have everything done by a professional. The best treatment for removing the smoke smell is an Ozone treatment. The do this professionally and I had all my posessions returned to me clean and fresh smelling. Try looking in your local phone book for cleaning services that specialize in water and smoke restoration. A local shop did wonders to clean up my computers and laptops that were damaged by the smoke. To treat the actual color left on object, 409 works well, as mentioned above.
