GeoHot. And he never actually hacked anything. And none of the hackers have actually hacked anything with regards to the PS3.
They simply stole a Sony USB dongle that lets you boot a PS3 into a debug/restore/etc. mode. Even the initial tool that lets you install to and run from the internal HDD was written by Sony.
From there, Sony released new firmwares and dev kits, and then the cat and mouse game of "find the key, hide the key" began.
Don't you wish to read a little bit about a topic, and educate yourself, before you open your mouth and make yourself look like a complete drooling retard?
None of the things you wrote are correct. I mean, you could have gotten at least 1 of them right, but seems it was too hard.
Sony wrote original backup manager? That's my favourite one.
Isn't it kind of interesting how this whole thing was supposedly about re-enabling the OtherOS feature. And yet the hackers still haven't managed that, but they have managed to get pirated games running. Meanwhile, we still have people here saying that it's all about getting OtherOS back. Funny how that works...
And when did you decide for everyone that "this whole thing was supposedly about re-enabling the OtherOS", please?
It was to get back functionality taken away with removal of OtherOS. Which includes access to LV2/LV1.
Not doing it that way is criminal and stupid. It doesn't make the world stronger, it weakens the one country that is most on the side of the sort of world you really want this to be.
So, you know what is best for everyone, you know things that others don't, and you also know what kind of world people want to live in.
..Micheal Moore actually exposes real crimes carried out by all the unpleasent dictatorships around the world. Though that might require him getting off his fat backside and doing some real investigative reporting and even putting himself in real danger , as opposed to the manufacturered danger he conjures up to keep up viewer interesr on his lame expose films.
So, you do not agree that he should try to clean up his own yard first, then go elsewhere?
You'd prefer him to clean Zimbabwe's yard, for example, while ignoring shit that is happening in his own?
Brilliant logic. I wish I had your brain for a week, so I can get a lifetime's rest...
This is the first time I've seen something that was published by Wikileaks that I don't think should have been. The summary refers to a cable documenting vital points to America's overall infrastructure. Most of the arguments for Wikileaks seem to say that the government should take responsibility for whatever bad things its representatives have communicated to others. However, this leak is something that I don't see as whistleblowing, or showing the government caught saying something they might regret. No, this is an outline of points of interest to keep the country running smoothly, important facilities spanning the entire globe. I can't see any actual good coming from the leak of this particular document.
Well, you don't see this as "government saying something they might regret" because they seem to be your government.
Rest of the world might think different, don't you think?
...a lot of people recently said that Wikileaks has become an anti-US organization. We should probably wait and see what they actually release, but perhaps this news shows otherwise? Or is the fact that they are going to release data on US based corporations just going to be viewed as more evidence of an anti-US sentiment?
Or maybe people are submitting documents related to US government/corporations, and that's what WikiLeaks can release?
If WikiLeaks are taking orders, I'd like to see some UN related dirt, as well as dirt related to all those 'aid' agencies around the world, that are earning enormous amount of cash by screwing up 3rd world countries.
We all know US government is dirty, Russian government is dirty, most governments are dirty.
It would be nice to let people know how many of those other agencies/institutions are dirty (MMF, WTO, WB, etc - and possibly FIA too;).
Hell, I bet someone could send them some documentation from FIFA too, there is so much dirt there...
If this was something they were considering, having him whacked, why wouldn't they have done it before this past leak which was the largest ever?
Nothing WikiLeaks have "leaked" so far is of any interest to anyone, but to people who are bored. Tell me anything major that WikiLeaks has released?
I mean, Cryptome releases much more interesting stuff
The reason he's still living is that he hasn't exposed anything embarrassing enough to Russia, or another country that doesn't have any problem getting their hands dirty.
And US government has problems with getting their hands dirty?
Although technically true, "Julius" [sic - his name is Julian] is accused of rape, so he qualifies as a "suspected rapist", I agree that throwing that into the summary is irrelevant to the story and unnecessarily prejudice.
So, why don't people refer to George W. Bush as "suspected war criminal", then?
They pulled all corporate and other countries leaks. Now they are simply an anti-US organization. They lost all claim to moral superiority or credibility at that point. Its simply a politically motivated espionage group now with an axe to grind against one country. Treat them like it. When he disappears, or accidentally falls down an elevator shaft on to a pile of bullets, no one will cry.
Assange is out of control. Wikileaks needs to oust him and go back to their original mission, of actually being a whistleblower, rather than just leaking things and hurting national and global security.
Julian Assange should go to jail for a very long time.
And he should go to jail because... ?
I know - because you'd like him to, right? That is a good enough reason to put someone into jail.
Wikileaks doesn't out anything anymore, unless its US intelligence. Haven't you noticed they pulled all private corporate leaks and European and other countries leaks? It's not a generic leaks site anymore or I would still support it. They are solely an anti-US espionage org now. They lost any credibility, and any respect, at that point. I say hang him.
Really? So, after US attacking WikiLeaks in any/every way possible, you are surprised that WikiLeaks is releasing data about US in any way they can?
If that were so, then where are the leaks from China, from Germany, from Russia, etc? Or is it only US government transparency? That would be an odd agenda for a group of Europeans led by a South African Boer.
Well, sooner you send them leaks from China, Germany and Russia, sooner they will release them.
Actually it looks as if this was part of the leak from the military person that is now in jail. He will be for a very very long time.
I love how people are absolving wikileaks of all responsibility. Lets put this into a differn't set of terms. An employee of a company say a network admin got access to the credit card info of a large number of people. He stole it and smuggled it out on a flash drive. He then put up for sale and let's say Microsoft knowing that it was gotten illegally paid him for it and used it for marketing..... We know how wikileaks got it but wikileaks didn't have to publish it. Assage better start to really worry. He has now made some nations that are not the US very angry at him. Those nations have no problem with the idea of killing people that make them angry. And frankly since all the Wikileaks people will blame the US they will not even get a second look and wouldn't care if they did.
If you don't want to sound like a complete retard, never use analogies to explain you points.
Analogies don't work and they show that you have no idea what you're talking about.
If you can't explain it in your own words, don't bother explaining it.
Your attitude is naive and idiotic. Regardless of your feelings, there are dangerous and evil men in the world. Overall, The United States is the greatest force for good in this world. The free press has traditionally been an excellent force to keep American voters informed and hold politicians accountable for their actions/policies.
Wikileaks does none of these things. All that Wikileaks does is undermine the efforts of the United States and the West to safeguard and make the world a better place. Make no mistake, these actions strengthen those who stand opposed to us who would like to see their own personal fortunes/power grow at the expense of democratic/free nations.
You may be opposed to specific US/Western policies but, frankly, it's the best we have. Your protests remind me of the Churchill quote: "democracy is the worst form of government except for all of the others".
Start? You do realize the Iranian government funds Islamic fundamentalist groups (who will kill Americans at any opportunity) like Hamas, Hezbollah, and a little-known organization called al-Qaeda, right?
The websites in these cases amount to a storefront to distribute fake goods or copyrighted materials. When this happens with physical storefronts, they get shut down. I don't really see how this is any different.
This isn't about free speech, no liberties were lost, this is about people breaking the law and reasonable steps are being taken to stop them. You shouldn't fear the government as a result of this. Take off your tinfoil hat.
So, a torrent search engine is now a storefront for distributing fake good or copyrighted materials?
You're smarter then you keep your mouth closed and finger far from the keyboard. Really.
Back when Bill Clinton was running for President, his campaign advisor James Carville stated in the plainest terms possible the best reason for voting for Bill over Bush, "It's the economy, stupid"
Now we have a choice between the iPad and this Android device. Both have fine featuresets, but what it all comes down to is what you can run on them. It's the apps, stupid. Which one has a richer appstore? Which one has the apps you're looking for? Which one has a large, dedicated application developer community?
I think we all know the answer to those questions. As much as it pains us to say, Apple has done those things very well while the Android market has floundered helplessly. So count my vote for Apple, because at the end of the day I want to get my work done, not just play around with a shiny toy.
And finally... Why the heck are our friends at Siemens selling systems to the Iranians?
What makes you think you are their friend, and who are you to tell Siemens who they should do business with?
I hope Larry Flint and Hustler have bank accounts with BoA :)
GeoHot.

We got it back v0v
He's not being tortured. Nobody is any more.
And you know that for sure because... ?
Fer fuck's sake, people with tiny minds have lost what little they had over this junk.
You had nothing to lose, it seems.
Not doing it that way is criminal and stupid. It doesn't make the world stronger, it weakens the one country that is most on the side of the sort of world you really want this to be.
So, you know what is best for everyone, you know things that others don't, and you also know what kind of world people want to live in.
In other words, you're a dumb fuck.
A lot of people here like this country just the way it is and don't want anyone, Moore, Obama, or anyone else changing it in to something else.
Leave, Michael! You'd be happier, and we'd be happier.
A lot of people here don't like this country the way it is, and want someone (Moore, Obama or anyone else) to try changing it into something else.
Leave, Anonymous Coward. You'd be happier, and we'd be happier.

Sorry, but divulging classified information is certainly a felony, it's black-letter law (National Security Act).
Is there a point in life where people like you stop for a moment, and think?
I mean, if there was a law that forced you to jump off the bridge once a day, you'd do it?
Land of the brave, home of the free, as long as you think, same as me.

Well, sooner you send them leaks from China, Germany and Russia, sooner they will release them.
You're obviously not a lawyer, then. Hell, you obviously haven't even read the Wikipedia articles on war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Has the US government committed acts of genocide, ie. the killing of an entire ethnic group? No.
Has the US government, as a policy, condoned or ordered any of the following on a large scale?
You are a fucking retard if you need to read Wikipedia in order to differentiate between right and wrong.
No really, you are the worst kind of shit that lives on this planet.
Trying to justify horrible things by hiding behind silly definitions.

Ok, so all those people still think they can change human nature using laws and papers...
