    On their best day, Slashdot readers would think of cell phone towers. I don't think there are any days this rabble would be intelligent enough to realize that any species or members of humanity from a time traveling society wouldn't need towers for their communication devices. Or would have very rapid means of deploying them from relatively small devices.

    Slashdot reminds me of ignorant atheists who attack creationism on the same logical level that creationists attack atheism on.

    Actually if one reads the link you will see that Slashdot is at it again.
    They are touch screen systems. If you keep your finger on them to long you end up with double picking.
    This is a coding error. They just need to change the select from touch begin to touch end and maybe add a next button to take you to the next screen.
    In other words it is a UI error and not some great evil conspiracy.

    I really miss the old good days, where talks on security conferences would blow you away, and where people would actually talk about new security related things, rather than showing 76th way of automating a process/procedure that has been known for 10 years (always involving grabbing [flavor of the month service]'s password).

    It may be that a Linux network is able to conduct trades faster than a windows one. I'd be willing to be though that most of this dramatic speed increase is down to new hardware. The windows network the LSE was on was what... 4+ years old?

    Iran is not a completely crazy country. Sure, the leadership is run by corrupt figures who use religious zealotry to organize the poor in order to remain in power, but that's no different than many Western countries. It's certainly possible that if the current leaders were to stumble on the national stage that the poor might see them for who they are, and violently remove them from power.

    He has a masters degree in systems technology and another in physics, according to his biography, in addition to an MBA and a BS undergrad, plus lots of experience in intelligence and counter-intelligence, including in active combat scenarios, according to his biography. I suspect he's probably more "technical" than a large swath of people here, not to mention the general public. Just because he says folks doesn't mean his 'non-technical', so stfu.

    No "technical" person would ever say such a stupid thing, like "US must secure the Internet".

    Sony makes consoles for gamers, not geeks who want cheap processing power. They need you to buy games for that piece of hardware to make some profit, that's why they try to crush any other use for it.

    The rest of the PS3 owners bought it to play games, so when some obscure option that less than one percent users even tried, it's no surprise no one cares.

    One user said that the hack can be used for something else other than pirating? Well what is it?
    Another said that you can buy an old version and play pirated games with it, all under 200 USD. The best games are online multiplayer. If you want to pirate games, then the Xbox is cheaper and easier to use.

    I don't get it. When did they manage to turn so many people into fucking droids, that just keep repeating same youre-all-pirates memes, and don't seem to have any brains left?

You REALLY need to realize that not everyone drools over Linux the same way you guys do, there are in fact people in the world who do this for practical reasons. Not just so the can have a white on black text console on their TV screen which their uneducated friends find impressive.

    Yeah, some people drool over ability to find MD5 collision on network of PS3s. One of the greatest security related things in this decade, that resulted in obtaining a valid CA cert. They must be pirates too. Or maybe you're just too dumb to realize that there is shitload of people drooling over running Linux (because Linux is easily accessible) on anything they can get their hands on? It is FUN. I know it's hard for you to understand, but other people are not you. I mean, you realize that various modern TVs, for example, are running on Linux, and there are people out there who will eventually get their own Linux 'distro' on their TV? Just because they want/can?

    I am amazed how many idiots think they know something about what people do with their hardware, or why. And they still feel like anyone needs their input. Sigh...
