Had Loki been able to release Linux ports of games at the same time as the Windows versions, things may have been very different. I'd certainly have bought some of the games if I didn't have to wait.
Tribes 2 was released at just about the same time for Windows and Linux. As they work more with different game producers, the time difference between the windows and linux versions will most likely decrease.
As soon as I read the article about Loki filing chapter 11, I went to their site and ordered a game. I've been meaning to do it for a while, and I realise that I almost waited too long.
I wouldn't be surprised if they've had a rush of orders since the original article here on slashdot.

I'd consider myself a geek, and I'm 6'5, 290lbs.
And there's a guy I work with who makes me look small.
Actually, expanding into other markets could be a good move for them. If they don't diversify their offering then losing in their base market would mean losing in their only market, killing the company.
Not a bad plan. You get to keep the kids from having to choose between right and wrong, or from realising consequences of actions.
Part of growing up is making mistakes. Learning what happens when you make them. By constantly monitoring children, you do keep them out of trouble, but you also keep them from experiencing life.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting we just let kids do what they want. I'm just saying that there is a seperation between healthy and unhealthy levels on monitoring.
Linux itself wouldn't be affected by Y2k, but Linux SOFTWARE can be. It really depends on the programmer. An incompetant programmer can screw things up royally, no matter what the operating system.
I saw plenty of websites running CGI's hosted on linux boxes that were broken during y2k due to attempting to display only 2 digits for the year. That would be linux software.
You won't use mozilla as a web browser because the bundled e-mail client won't do secure e-mail?
Why not use mozilla as a browser, and an e-mail program for e-mail.
Or hell, use any well evolved program. They all do e-mail eventually anyways.
I think he was probably referring to the failures of a lot of DSL, and other internet providers, rather than the fail of content providers and other dot coms.
The second generation watch lasts for 2 hours.
"The watch battery lasts about two hours, Narayanaswami said."
What you saw was this:
" For example, through tuning Linux, IBM has increased the battery life of the original Linux watch from about 4 hours to 6, he said. "
The first generation watch used to last 4 hours, but they were able to improve the first generation watch to last for 6.

Are car vendors brought up on charges when someone is caught drunk driving in one of their cars?
It does in fact comply with the GPL as other people pointed out.
However, nothing is stopping someone from buying YDL 2.0, and making/distributing the ISOs themselves.

but, as was also pointed out, ftp is not a tcp/ip stack.
8,000 machines you mean.
They have single processor and dual processor machines, which means wherewhere between 8,001 and 15,999 processors.
Or at all for that matter.
It says you can download them, not view them.
I think it depends.
:)
Are you referring to the ending that happened at the end of the movie, or the ending that happened at the begining?
That would just require registration with whoever owns ny.us, not .us.

Not exactly.

I generally don't base my VCR (or other equipment) purchases on the quality of a side product.
I don't buy VCRs for their clocks. If the clock sucks, but the VCR is great, then I just won't use the clock.
I personally have always wanted to play around with Slackware, but the BSD style inits bugged the hell out of me.
Is there a way to use SysV inits on slackware?
What DVD Decoder?
The Creative Labs DXR2 is already supported (By creative labs no less), and someone is working on support for the DXR3.
New Line isn't creating a movie called Diablo. They're making a movie with the word Diablo in the title.
Blizzard didn't create the name Diablo. It's a name referring to a demon that's been used for a rather long period of time.
2.5.2 (development kernel) is most likely going to lead to the 3.0 stable kernel. Skipping the ones you mention there.
I agree with the first part of your argument... but the second part is rather circular in it's logic.
What software was designed for hardware accellerated 3d before there was hardware accellerated 3d cards?
I could very easily see games taking full advantage of full 3d sound once it was available. Although I was under the impression that it already was...
2.4.2-ac1 should include any patches that didn't make it from 2.4.1-ac20 into 2.4.2.
So if you like the experimental stuff, go with 2.4.2-ac1. If you prefer stability, go with 2.4.2.
Ahh, but then mentos would be after you.
"what are you doing?"
"running make on my new FRESH install"
"HEY! WE'RE THE FRESHMAKER!"

Ok, so it's a bad joke. Leave me alone.
But there's already C-shell, which sounds identical
